Retro Burger

Once in a blue moon I like to swing by the retro joint and get a vegetarian burger or the vegetarian cheese sub (no steak) and the crew is nice to everyone and makes customers feel welcome.

Thought I'd give this fast food place a try. The menu is on the wall, so you're basically eyeing the guests eating while trying to figure out what to order. Weird. Tried talking to a staff member but he was rude, confrontational, and then blew me off. I'm very disappointed and sad to be treated like that. I won't be back. When you're in a service industry you should put on a smile for every customer no matter how your day is going. Believe me, I've worked retail for many years.

Had the Bacon cheese burger. Was awesome, burger flavour was good, bacon crispy, cheese melted over all. Toppings standard, but their burger sauce elevated it. Service friendly, quick Atmosphere good, nice spread of tables, and the front seating bench looks outside, place to sit when alone, or want to be alone.

Retro for us never fails. Their burger consistently tastes good. Large portions of fries and they taste great. Staff is friendly and pleasant to deal with. We enjoy this place!

I’m not a regular here but this is the last time for me. I came by last Thursday around 8pm for a late dinner. Always the same guy with glasses at the cash register taking your order. He has zero customer service but I’ve always overlooked his sourpuss personality because I’m here for the food. I ordered the Swiss Mushroom Burger combo with fries and a pop. Both the burger and fries were extremely greasy and it was difficult to finish them because they tasted so oil laden and dirty! I suspect they hadn’t cleaned the grill nor changed the frying oil in some time because it was nearing closing time. I’ve worked many years in restaurant kitchens to know the difference between regularly changed frying oil and dirty frying oil. Shortly after leaving Retro Burger, I felt my stomach cramping up. For the next 48 hours, I had vomiting, abdominal cramping and small bowel obstruction which was confirmed by a hospital CT scan. Even today, I still have a residual stomach ache. I know running a business costs money and prices for everything have gone up but we cannot compromise when customers’ health is at stake!

This is not the first time retro burger has let me down. It's not okay to send burnt food to customers. The first time it happened, they completely burnt my onions to the point it was pitch black, and since they packed so much inside, the whole burger was completely inedible. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt because mistakes happen, but this time around, the bread (both buns on BOTH (2) of the burgers I ordered) were completely BURNT, as well as the hamburgers! I'm not usually picky but at this point you just have to be completely careless, you saw the burnt bread and still continued to assemble the burger, because what, you don't want to waste your money on a piece of bread? I used to work at McDonalds and even we threw away burnt bread. I had to throw away both burgers, completely inedible, it's frustrating and upsetting spending lots of money for restaurants to be so careless. Won't be ordering from here anymore, and if the owners or employees are reading this, please do better. UPDATE: Since the owner want's to try and be a smart head in their reply, I've ordered sautéed onions AND garlic butter on my bun previous times, the burgers were delicious and fine. The two times above that I pointed out were not a "sauce that makes it dark" nor "cooked more because of the garlic butter", it was BURNT, bitter and inedible. I've seen from other customer reviews you burn a lot of food. Avoid the sarcasm and take accountability for your actions.

Affordable burger place for the quantity. It was good enough to feel full and it was tasty. I enjoyed so much my burger that I forgot to take pictures of the burgers we got. I took the cheeseburger combo. Which isn’t the priciest but I wasn’t hungry after at all. The fries were good too. The employees were professional and friendly. I will definitely come back!

How did I not know about this place?! The menu is extensive with so many delectable options! Normally, I would just go to a Wendy's or Burger King, but I decided to throw caution to the wind and even their onion rings were incredible. You don't even need a double cheeseburger cause one patty will put you into a satisfied food-coma. Their staff is friendly, approachable, and professional. Their always happy to give recommendations if you feel like trying something new and every meal is a trip to flavour town. If you're looking for a burger joint, this is the place to go.
