Massey House Restaurant

We ordered 4 orders of Halibut fish and chips through Skip the Dishes and the food was amazing. The fish and fries were very fresh as was the delicious creamy coleslaw. We will definitely order from this restaurant again and eat in the restaurant. The fish and chips is better than any from the Captain George's chain.

Just terrible. We ordered the special 'chicken kabob dinner' for $20 each. IT WAS NOT CHICKEN. Took one bite and spit it out. Should have known. The menu is way too big and diverse for anything to be fresh. I ate nothing on my plate and was offered a to-go box which I declined. We were charged over $65 for the worst meal of my life - meat that was not recognizable. Then, we ordered ice cream bc it came w the special and the waitress went back to the kitchen and we heard the so-called chef yelling at her for 15 min leaving us sitting there w our uneaten food waiting for ice cream. I walked out and left my husband to pay. So sad because this could be a great location and there are few restaurants in Newcastle.

Have been going here for over 3 years but this past Tuesday ordered the Spaghetti and Meatballs on Tuesday and it gave me the runs the very next day. The burger my partner had was better and tasted great. Plus it smells like moldy and dusty inside. Do not think we will be returning. Stick to the pub fare. They have way too much on their menu to have any realistic, fresh, consistent food.

Terrible experience. We had to ask for coffee. Also, two groups of customers who came in after us received their breakfast and we were still sitting there waiting. When we asked where our breakfast was. The waitress had "forgotten" she had taken our order. So we walked out. Will never go back. If you are not a local they don't want to know you

I normally don't write negative reviews, however, this evening we ordered from massey house as we like to support local and the food was absolutely horrible! The first time I ordered the lord of the rings about 6 months ago they were so good! (Panko crusted onion rings) second time they were just regular batter, thought maybe it was just a fluke but were still the same old batter this time... if you do not offer panko crust anymore, please remove this from your menu... very disappointing! The spaghetti was a very small portion that cost $14, definitely not worth it! Also, the fajitas were the worst I have ever had. Had 1/6 and the rest went in the garbage. Fajita shells were stale and hard, onions were uncooked and chicken/veg had absolutely no taste at all, very dry with no seasoning. We used to love massey house years ago, but unfortunately after tonight we will not be back.
