We are from bowmanville and this evening we went to the newcastle captain georges for the first time. We went in and were welcomed right away and she took our take out order right away. She was friendly and kind. The cook was fast and friendly as well. Once getting home we opened the food and saw the big thick pieces of fish .everything was cooked perfectly and I will be coming back . Service and food were amazing !!!!

On line prices need updating. Ordered family meal 4 halibut & 1 chips. Fish was lovely, but chips were all chip ends and crumbs. Price was $10 more than expected, included extra charge for paying with credit card. We were not given option to pay cash.

The young lady who served us was very nice. There was a good selection on the menu and the meal I had was very good. Chicken souvlaki pita with a delicious greek salad on the side. I would go there again.

Absolutely loved my stay here at Capt George's. The restaurant was clean and the staff were very friendly and attentive. They took their time to explain the specials and any questions i had with the menu. I ordered the Halibut and it was one of the best that I've ever had. Soft tender and crispy golden on the outside. The fries were crispy as well! Being from Oshawa it's well worth the short drive over for some quality English style fish and chips. Id recommend the cocounut cream pie as a dessert even if youre not a fan of coconut. Its the best ive had yet. Soft flaky and baked perfectly. I noticed a lot of other patrons had Greek style dishes which looked really good as well. I will try them next as this also seems very popular. I can always appreciate an extensive menu with good options! The prices are fair, the food tastes great and the portion sizes are very filling. What more can anyone want? My go to spot for fish and chips from now on. 5 stars easy.

We used to eat here once a week. Our kids loved it, food was great. I'm assuming there was a management change, as the quality plummeted. The fish is so sad looking, soggy and barely enough to call a piece of fish. It's really sad that this restaurant built a great reputation in Newcastle, and has been destroyed so quickly.

This place is a hidden gem. Their food is delicious, the atmosphere is so warm and cosy as if you're somewhere in Greece, the chef and his crew are truly dedicated. We were impressed and amazed, now if we drive by Newcastle, this is our "must pitstop". Truly recommend!
