Ye Olde Squire Welland

We moved to Welland recently. We've heard good things and reviews looked good. Came in around noon, host went to seat us right away. A particularly surly woman with red hair scolded her right in front of us for where she wanted to originally seat us. Host sat us, and lucky for us that same woman who had just embarrassed the host is now our server. She came to greet us and take our drink order which was water. From the moment we asked for the water she seemed to be aggravated. I'm assuming presuming we would be cheap, not just simply hungover. I got chili my partner got a vegetable bowl. Frankly i'm not sure what was saltier, my chili or our server. She came back once to ask us how our food was while of course I had a mouth full so i smiled and gave a thumbs up. We sat there for quite a while. Empty glasses. A passing server got my partner a to go box. She came after she noticed the box and rudely made a comment about clearing our plates. We sat again for a while until I finally went and found someone so I could pay our bill. Not sure if she was having a bad day, didn't like us based on our sexuality or simply is just a terrible server. Either way, there's plenty of other places to get a $15 crock of edible soup. This will be a pass for us.

First time trying Ye olde squire. Was a busy friday night but service was prompt and we were seated immediately. The Canadian burger, Mac and cheese, and loaded potato skins were absolutely delicious. The fries were a little funky tasting but all in all was a good meal for the value. Servers were friendly and quick. We plan on returning soon!

My girlfriend and I have been here about four times since we moved to Welland in early 2023. I can’t seem to order anything other than the buffalo chicken fingers. They are by far the absolute best chicken fingers I’ve ever had. I seriously crave them weekly and will be coming back soon for more. Excellent service and a friendly atmosphere. 10/10.

I would like to Thank our Waitress, Missy for a most enjoyable lunch. It has been a long time since I have encountered such a dedicated server. Even though Missy was already serving a very large group, she gave my friend and I (2 Senior Ladies) her undivided attention. She was quick, but didn't make us feel rushed. Her smile was warm and endearing. She was patient and helpful while going over the menu items; and she anticipated our condiment needs. When I asked if I might have a little more gravy for my mashed potatoes, she asked if I would also like some more butter so that they would be creamier before adding the gravy. She let us sit and enjoy our coffee after our meal and waited for us to ask for the bill, instead of rushing us out. Thanks again Missy. We will be back soon and ask for your section.

Have had the blue cheese burger in the past with mashed potatoes and remember being pretty happy with it, and just had the Buffalo chicken burger with sweet potato fries and it was absolutely delicious. Huge piece of fried, juice chicken breast with very good wing sauce, and the fries were also very good. The desserts are very big. Definitely shareable. The Sticky Toffee Pudding in particular was fantastic. Pretty nice atmosphere considering it's in a mall, and service has been super friendly as well. Gluten Free options are also available.

Food was excellent as was the service. A bit too loud for normal conversation but worth going back. Fortunately we had reservations for a Friday night as there were people waiting to get in. Edit Nov. 21 visit. Had very long wait for service. 30 minutes before ordering. Saw other couple come after and had food well before us. Waitress did admit there were staffing issues. Also, fries were a bit soggy so overall experience was not as good as previous visits.

I ordered their fish and chips as it was highly recommended. It was absolutely delicious. The fish was meaty. The batter was not overpowering. The fries was crispy and soft in the inside. The coleslaw and tartar sauce was also delicious. I have ordered here numerous times and its consistently good. It doesn’t seem to matter what I get because its always delicious. My definite go to for fish and chips.
