West Plains Bistro is the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion like a birthday! From the moment we walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the tone for a fantastic evening. The staff were incredibly attentive and made sure every detail of our experience was flawless. The menu offered a wide variety of options, and the specials were creative and appealing, making it hard to choose just one dish. Every bite was a delight—thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. It’s clear the kitchen puts a lot of care into their craft. What made the evening truly memorable was the personal touch from the lovely couple who own the Bistro. They took the time to visit and chat with guests, adding a personal connection to the dining experience. I would highly recommend West Plains Bistro to anyone looking for a delicious meal, excellent service, and a charming, personal touch. It’s a gem of a spot, and I can’t wait to return!

Tried West Plains Bistro for the first time last week for my wife’s birthday and the overall experience wasn’t great. Booked through open table with a note about the birthday, outside of the hostess, no one acknowledged her, which isn’t the end of the world but it’s also not that difficult for most other restaurants. We ordered some cocktails while we perused the menu, ordered, aps arrived, everything was alright so far, nice presentation good flavour there. When the ap plates were being cleared away , the waiter spilled a full water glass all over the table & my wife and I. The solution, just cover it up with some napkins? The entire experience changed here, the waiter brought some extra napkins to cover up the water, and who I’m guessing is a manager brought me some fresh cutlery. We ordered a bottle of wine to go with dinner, the waitress corked and let me taste, then put the bottle down, didn’t fill any glasses. Mains came, again nice presentation, good flavour, my only complaint really was the veggies for my beef were noticeably a much different temperature than the meat and taters. My wife enjoyed her pasta however the waitress never came back to check how we were enjoying our meals. It felt like after the water spilled we were unwanted guests, despite no one making a big deal of it, I’m a very go with the flow guy (no pun intended), it was just water after all. We ended up getting desert, which didn’t come with any sort of acknowledgment of happy birthday. We received the bill and paid in full, which you would hope they would offer something as a Heck sorry we spilled water here’s an ap or desert on us, nothing. Despite the food being good, the service is so bad I wouldn’t go back or recommend this restaurant. Very underwhelming.

What a find!A smaller, cozy place with an inviting decor! The acoustics were great in that we didn't feel like we had to shout to hear each other.Service was exceptional in every aspect of that word..but the highlight was the food.I ordered the mushroom crepe which came with a salad.Even the salad was presented with a flair!Just enough lunch food to feel satiated. This was truly the best eatery I have found in a long time! Also,we found the prices very comparable, especially for the quality of food!I will surely be back!

Poor service for a few reasons. Poorly-made paper plane cocktails. Ugh. Extremely salty escargots with vol au vent. However, fabulous stuffed squash! But, I would not return.

Great food and great service with a nice atmosphere and a very cute patio. I’ve been here a couple of times and find the food very excellent. One of the few places you can get a really good French onion soup! And if you can get there butternut squash soup when they have it it’s just phenomenal. Their burger here is really really top-notch. A great mushroom crêpe I’m looking forward to going back and trying more dishes!

I had the pleasure of attending the West Plains Bistro for lunch on Friday of last week. I used to frequent this establishment quite often, always a favourite place to go on my birthday. In recent years I have neglected the bistro as I no longer conform to an animal based diet. I got the call on Thursday evening, when my dad invited me to have lunch with his two friends who were visiting from Tillsonburg. I did a quick online search of the menu and was delighted to see they offered a few exquisite vegan options. On Friday morning a went to the gym to work up my appetite, my dad picked me up on the way to the restaurant. Upon entering I was reminded of the ambiance that I favoured all those years ago. We were seated in the booth at the window and I began to drool the moment the menu was in my hands. After deliberating with our server, Taylor, both my dad and I went with the Tuscan vegetable soup. I ultimately, paired it with the harvest squash as my entree. The food was absolutely exceptional. It exceeded all expectations in presentation and in flavour. It was the perfect autumn meal, that welcomed the transition of the seasons, as the days are getting shorter and the temperature drops. I was exasperated by the squash, having the entire dish served inside the shell. Overall, the dining experience was fabulous. We had a nice time catching up and reminiscing on old memories. Our server Taylor was excellent. I encourage West Plains Bistro to explore adding more vegan dishes to the menu. I will definitely be coming back.

Very nice ambiance. Love their beef bourguignon! I wouldn’t make reservations online. You have a better chance getting the time and table of your preference if you call them.
