The Express Restaurant - Italian Eatery

Hit and miss. The grilled vegetable salad was wonderful and well made and delicious. The ravioli were lukewarm throughout and prepared well in advance and not reheated through, were bland and small portion. It was so disappointing for a $28 birthday main. In contrast, the gnocchi showed up piping hot and freshly made. The inconsistency ruined my experience and I'll likely not be back.

Came here twice. First time got one of their pizzas with white sauce. Do not recommend if you don’t like pizzas thinner than crackers. Second time I got their pesto pasta and the noodles were beyond al dente, way too soft but fortunately the waitress helped us with a new plate. The taste however was still not up to par with restaurants in Toronto that charge the same.

Seating was a little more intimate than I would have liked, unable to have a real conversation with my dining companion since I could hear every detail of our neighbouring table's prostate issues. My companion had to move their chair over to allow the gentleman at the next table space to get out from their seat when leaving. Service was mediocre with our wait staff checking in once at the start of our meal. My companion had to get up and find someone to replenish the water glasses. Regarding the food, I was excited with the menu options but a little disappointed when it hit the taste buds. We ordered the white pizza with potatoes and Fettucine Pesto with chicken. Pizza had no flavour except for the overwhelming cheese. There were no more than 10-12 very, very thin slices of potato (8 slice pizza). I don't mind a thin crust but this was paper thin. The Fettuccine were much worse. Probably cooked twice as long as they should have been and felt like mush after it passed the lips.

Every meal at The Express is amazing! They have delicious food, gluten free options, and are absolutely hands down my favourite neighbourhood restaurant! Always friendly, accommodating and will go the extra mile to make sure your experience is top notch. I highly recommend that you get over there for lunch or dinner and get yourself a grilled vegetable salad (with chicken if you eat that!)!

Enjoyed dinner so much!!!! Large portions and authentic tasting Italian food! We had a friendly, excellent server named Madeline. Always love when a biscotti is complementary to your cappuccino! Perfect spot to take your family while visiting them at McMaster!

A little loud, but the food is amazing, as is the staff. The calzone was so soft and fresh, and the gnocchi was delicious. Will be back to try the pizzas.

Food is absolutely delicious! We talked about coming back after the first bite. The service is quick and extremely friendly. Atmosphere has a adorable rustic cozy feel to it. You can smell all the delicious foods cooking as you sit creating an intoxicating experience. Definitely recommend!!

Really great spot for all of our Italian favourites! Honestly such a great selection in the menu, I can’t wait to try everything on it— it was really hard deciding on one thing to order! Quality ingredients, and great tastes. Exactly what you expect and sign up for when you make a reservation for an Italian restaurant. The asparagus soup was a bit bland and felt unseasoned. Prices are a bit on the higher end but you’re paying for portions and quality.
