Ordered takeout lunch special. Sushi rolls were very fresh and high quality. Came with miso soup and salad, I loved the salad dressing! Didn't try anything else this time but will be back! Windows of restaurant are boarded up but the interior is nice. Staff are friendly. Would definitely return!

This is a very clean establishment. From the lobby, dining area and even the bathrooms. The service was prompt and professional. The food was delicious and at a very fair price. Lastly, someone decided to target this restaraunt. Destroying all their front windows. Please stop by to support them. It may look odd from the outside until repairs are done, but the interior is beautiful.

After discovering our usual sushi spot in Newmarket had permanently closed, we found ourselves searching for a new place that was open mid-to-late afternoon—a time when many sushi restaurants shut their doors. Lucky for us, Taiga Ichiban was open and ready to impress. From the moment we stepped in, we were treated to an experience that exceeded expectations. The presentation of the food was nothing short of breathtaking—true artistry on every plate, with even the tiniest details thoughtfully executed. And the portions? Absolutely massive! We couldn’t believe the value for the price—it felt almost too good to be true. Although we visited during a quieter time, the atmosphere remained warm and inviting. The lighting was perfect, and the space was impeccably clean. The lone server did seem a bit distracted, requiring us to make repeat requests for small items like a fork, but this minor hiccup was easily overshadowed by the incredible food and overall experience. Taiga Ichiban delivered in every way that matters—quality, presentation, and unbeatable value. If you’re looking for a sushi spot that offers top-tier dishes without breaking the bank, this place is an absolute must-try. We can’t wait to return!

We didn’t know what to eat for dinner and decided to try this restaurant. We are so glad we did! Food and service was great! The lady servicing us was super friendly. We ordered a Taiga box, pork ramen, cucumber salad roll, and we loved them all. Highly recommend!

Newest HOT sushi spot in Newmarket. Was positively impressed with the unique design and the food was incredible. Menu if full of unique rolls you won't find anywhere else. Will commit to trying everything in the menu. The owner are very friendly and do their best to please the customer.

It was such a pleasure dining here. The food is amazing, great quality and portion for the price you pay, stunning plating and the service was fantastic!! Everyone is very sweet and accommodating, will definitely be going back!!

We arrived when they open so I guess the sushi rice was still warm while making the rolls. The seaweed got soften up about and becane chewy. All the deep fried dishes are made to order so they are fresh and hot. Portion is good and the lady was very nice and welcoming. We got the spring rolls on the house. You get 10% off if pay by cash. We ordered the 3 rolls combo and the dinner set for 2. I was too late to get a photo before one of us took a piece of the dumplings, shrimp tempura and spring roll 😅. Still have 2 boxes to take home.

The store looks bright and clean. Reasonable price and good taste with good portion. The staff was really kind. They have the lunch special 11-4 everyday as well. After few months, I visited again with my family. It took one hour more to get 3 dishes, and one dish was super salty that we couldn’t even eat more than one bite. We asked the server to remake it and packed as to go, the food was great. So we think it’s basically how busy the staffs were. I don’t recommend going this place at dinner time or when they are busy. I mean one server for that huge place is not fair to judge that one server, it’s the restaurant.
