We visited State & Main for New Year’s dinner, and it was a complete disappointment. From the start, things went downhill. It took the front desk staff several minutes to figure out our reservation, and when we were finally seated, we were told there was a 90-minute dining limit. No other restaurant we’ve been to has ever imposed that, especially for a special occasion like New Year’s Eve. The atmosphere was uninspired. We were crammed into a tiny booth with no charm or ambiance. It took about five minutes for anyone to greet us or bring water, and when the server finally arrived, she seemed uninterested and disengaged, as if we were at a budget diner. We ordered the Paper Plane cocktail, which was a disaster. It tasted like watered-down orange juice with too much ice—not even close to a proper cocktail. For the price, we expected far better. The food was even worse. A steak ordered medium-well came out dry and overcooked, while another steak was drowned in an overpowering, spicy sauce that completely ruined the dish. The sushi bites were bland and uninspired—just flavorless tuna, spicy mayo, and fried rice squares that lacked creativity. We skipped dessert or more drinks because the quality of the food and service was so underwhelming. The whole experience felt like dining at Harvey’s trying to pretend it was The Keg, but failing miserably. Our money could have been so much better spent elsewhere, and this subpar experience completely ruined what was supposed to be a special night. We won’t be coming back, and we can’t recommend State & Main to anyone looking for a decent dining experience.

My girlfriends and I recently visited State & Main for dinner and it was an amazing evening. The food was superb and the alcohol free cocktails were beyond yum. The dessert at the end of our meal put such a big smile on our face that we didn’t want to leave :) Beyond the food, was the exceptional service by our Server, Rylea who was the epitome of what customer care is like. Her warm, caring persona made us feel like home and is a perfect reason to head back to this restaurant location.

Amazing service. We were seated at the big booth for a birthday. The environment was nice and not to forget the food was delightful. We had the Calamari, Truffle & Shrimp Rigatoni, Bison Burger, The Empire State Steak, The Main burger and a poutine.

Food was fantastic! we only came for quick appetisers, and we shared the jalapeño mac and cheese and the pretzel bites. both are absolutely delicious. the atmosphere is very comfy and chill and i love the low lighting and the colour scheme of everything. i will say however that they seemed quite understaffed. it was extremely busy and there seemed to be only 3 waitresses, so the service was a bit slower than expected. they did a good job considering how crazy it was and how understaffed it seemed! i’d consider coming back and trying a main dish next time.

One of my favourite restaurants. Food is always great and staff are super friendly. This by far is one of the restaurants where I can finish and not take a to go box. The food has so much flavour and makes me want to keep on trying the rest of the menu! Highly recommended!

Venue & Service is A+. Food is really good too. But will definitely be returning. Fish Tacos were super yummy and fresh. Chicken, mashed potatoes and asparagus were super yummy!! Looking forward to trying other menu items:) UPDATE (JULY 2023): Returned for more! Drinks were made much better, I asked for extra sweetest and omg they delivered, so good. Fish tacos again, delicious. Everything so well done:) 100% recommend to all! RETURNED AGAIN (JULY 2024) Everything, so well done, yet again. Can’t go wrong here:)
