Pathetic food, pathetic service. There are better places in Barrie for dosa and Biriyani. 😊 Don’t waste your money or time here. The girl did not even give us the food menu for dine in or take an order. Zero customer service. I ordered dosa, it was pathetic and sour and so was the Sambhar. This used to be a great place for food, now it’s the worst. This review is purely concerning the service and the food. I had to ask if there is dine in and ask her to please take the order. She never informed about being busy or even apologized for it. That is poor service. Kindly take accountability for that. If you would’ve seen the video recording you would’ve noticed that and has nothing to do with a mere discount. 😊 I even asked if there was a change in the management, cause the food is terrible. 😊 The server was not friendly so we did not even want to mention about the terrible food, we had it out of respect for the place, paid and left. I would love to dine in or order food if you choose to take this as an honest feedback and improve the food and the service. 😊

Have eaten here twice and really enjoyed the chicken dum biryani. Service is friendly. Lots of seating available and was almost empty both times we visited. The Mango lassi was really good as well.

Very good South Indian restaurant in Barrie. Suitable for late night diners. The food was tasty, and the service was excellent. Prithvi gave us great suggestions to try and it was good!! Will definitely recommend for anyone craving South Indian food!

"The Breakfast House" also "South Indian Express".We were initially confused, but eventually boarded when we realized the South Indian Express has smaller lights on glasses near the door. Our primary expectation for the food was met—it was both delicious and satisfying. Prithvi, who served us, was cheerful and attentive, making sure all our needs were well taken care of. I believe there were two chefs, and they crafted ginger tea and mango lassi so memorable that the taste still lingers. The ambiance was well-maintained, hygienic, and had a beautiful, pleasant vibe. My 7-year-old son thoroughly enjoyed the poori with chicken curry, and we loved the chutney that accompanied the Dosa. This is truly a great spot for authentic South Indian cuisine with rich flavors. I would recommend this place without hesitation.

Food was awesome looking to eat something South Indian style best place but I think just increase a bit amount of food they serve. Little bit more could be better. All over food was awesome as specially sambhar.

Writing an honest review, My suggestion to owners would be to reduce prices or increase the portion size to justify the price written in menu. I asked for podi chilli onion tomato Uttapam but I can’t find onion or tomato in it and it is so small. Podi masala dosa was tasty and crispy but again small for the price. Idli sambhar was good and chutneys were tasty as well.

I recently dined at South Indian Restaurant and had a great experience. The Hyderabadi Dum Biryani and Sambar Vada were fantastic. The biryani was flavorful and perfectly cooked, and the vada was crispy and paired well with the delicious sambar. The Idli was just okay, a bit dry and could have been fluffier, but it was still enjoyable with the chutneys and sambar. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant for their tasty biryani and vada. I'll definitely be back to try more dishes!

We had Chicken biryani, Vada Sambar and Gulab Jamon for dinner at South Indian Xpress. I must say you should definitely visit this restaurant when you are around Barrie. I loved the authentic aroma of biryani, vada was crispy and tasted awesome. I learned that it’s a new management and the staff were too kind & welcoming. I would love to visit again.
