Sakai Japanese And Korean Restaurant

Had my birthday dinner here, I usually do an omakase in Toronto but decided to scale it back this year and I was not disappointed. This is by far the best sushi I've outside of downtown Toronto. The rice was amazingly seasoned and the cuts of fish were perfectly prepared. We had a big party of 16 people and the service was still amazing. As a sushi enthusiast I felt compelled to seek out the chef's behind the counter to commend them on their preparation of the sushi and in doing so I met the owner who was extremely humble and I can tell they are a gem in the community. I now have a new go to sushi spot!

Ventured to GTA west yesterday to buy something off of FB Marketplace and decided to see what Burlington had to offer by way of Asian food. We thoroughly enjoyed a late lunch/early dinner at Sakai. We arrived at 4:30pm - optimal time before the dinner rush! We dined Omakase-style and were greeted by dish after dish of deliciousness. We began with tuna tataki, kalbi, and steak tartar - great balance of flavours, textures, and temperatures. It wasn’t until we got to the sushi that I had the presence of mind to snap some photos - pulled out my phone because I was impressed by the details and presentation. Sadly, I didn’t snap a pic of our Hokkaido scallops or ebi (shrimp). Best I’ve ever had. I would have taken more pics but my usually-fussy about food 17-year old was actually impatient to get to each next bite. That alone speaks for itself! We finished our meal with crème brûlée - delicate and just the perfect amount of sweet. Thanks to John and his family, and amazing team for a meal to remember.

It’s Friday of a long weekend. The only table was the bar. The food took a little longer but it was good when it arrived. Service was great. Very attentive and friendly.

Maki rolls were fine taste wise. However, they were pretty small in size, and the dynamite rolls had an unreasonable amount of rice and less filling. Water refill was also not offered, and the waitress was MIA for a bit.

Went around 4 and the restaurant was quiet right before work. The vibes of the restaurant were great, by the time we left at 6 it was packed. We got the sashimi platter which was an alright size for 2 people, definitely won't be full. Note that each sushi had wasabi underneath which I wasn't a fan of but my partner was. I would say the prices are a bit high in this location but nothing crazy.

Good atmosphere. Great service. Loved our family dinner. Sushi taste good. Food came out fast. Plenty of parking. Friendly place. Lots of laughs.

Sakai is definitely one of my favourite spots in Burlington! The quality and quantity of their food is out of this world! Super tasty and super fresh. We get our usual, and it never disappoints! The staff are also super friendly and kind, and the entire atmosphere of the restaurant is warm and inviting.

The cost is not cheap at all , however you get what you pay for The quality of the food 😋 is hard to beat. Really to be honest it's the best locally They have wonderful cuts of sashimi Sushi 🍣 So why not give this place the 5 starts 🤔 Easy. Here are my complaints and I don't go looking for them but these ones can't be missed and I have enjoyed eating here many times and have a answer to my complaints The quick answer ... cone at lunch time This is the only time I would give them the 5 starts Majority of the time, dinner time is a bit of a headache ... Today is December and I was sitting in a private room at the back near the outside wall. Freezing cold 🥶 and also the door kept opening and nothing but many cold front every time the door opens. And yes the door opens lots and this is due to the the pickup orders. It's 👎 non stop . So many people in and out getting the takeout 🥡 Worst then that is. The people picking up food is disturbing. Based on the restaurant setup. And they prioritize the people with takeout over the people sitting waiting for service. I have informed them of this and they don't care. How is it that if I called in and ordered 🤔 my food, i would get it before the people sitting.... and I have done that For dinner, they always seem short staffed and always waiting at the end for the bill . Always . Such slow 🐌 dinner service Disappointed because the food is so amazing .
