ON THE RICE

Ordered chicken Katsu curry for take out but most of the vegetables are burnt. This is not acceptable and should not be served. Really disappointing.

Very friendly staff. My husband got the Pork Katsu Curry and I got the Spicy BBQ Pork Bento box. My husband says he had a very generous portion, full of flavour and good mix of meat, vegetables and rice. Everything in my bento had tons of flavors and different textures. It also had a great portion and a healthy mix of everything. The sushi was really crunchy and tasted great. Thank you!

Stopped here traveling through. Had the chicken katsu lunch special, very nice flavors. Came with a miso soup. I had to leave some of the rice behind, as the portion was very generous. Well done

I have been coming to On the Rice for a few years and it has been always incredible. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The menu has a good variety of East Asian Fusion Dishes to some amazing appetizers. If your looking to try some amazing food or just want a filling meal, On the Rice is the place. Would 100% Reccomend.

Delicious food!! There are some great Korean dishes on the menu, with English translations. The service was also excellent. Prices are pretty good too for what you get!

Came here for dinner on a Saturday night. Glad we came early as seating is limited, but the food and service was amazing. We ordered the chicken katsu curry and bulgogi bento box. The portion size was very generous and the staff are very welcoming. We’ll be back to try more soon!

Found this place on google, decided to give it a try and was not disappointed at all. Called to order over the phone and took less than 15 minutes for the order to be ready. Lady at the front was very nice. At first, initial presentation wasn't the best, however I was very surprised by the flavours of the dish. I got bulgogi on the rice, and it was amazing. I haven't had this flavour before so not sure what it's supposed to taste like but very savory with a little sweet, close to BBQ sauce but at the same time something entirely different. It's hard to explain but 100% recommend. Will be back to try some other flavours on the rice.

Nov 9 2024 Back again with my family of 6. We have been craving to come back. My On the Rice Galbi beef short rib bowl was savoury perfection. Still the same very kind and warm service. The bowl always seems small but the galbi keeps going. It was more than enough to the point of delightful contentment. Did not order anything else but to be able to eat and feel happiness and satisfaction like this is rare. If you are in Newmarket and you want some amazing bbq beef short rib with stir fried veg and white rice this is the only place you need. Rest if family had their own faves and they looked amazing with good quantity and quality. Love their miso soup as well. Will always come back whenever we can. Korean soulfood here! Only dinged for price and quantity and small dining area, but I suppose that is not a fair point. More of a pickup place than dine in, but I guess at least they have some space to eat. 4 tables of 4 seats are just spaced out enough. The lady at the front is not Korean. What a pleasant surprise, not that it matters, but she was really pleasant to deal with. Regarding price, I would have been happier if it was 1 to 2 dollars less but I did enjoy it but I had to add the $7 Seaweed salad to my 6 piece Galbee lunch special that was $17 I think it was. If the galbee pieces were all med to large I would have been fine with the price but some were smaller. All in all I left stomach happy but not wallet happy at $26 before tax which includes the almost $2 can of pop. Perhaps a better combo that includes a side and drink for $20 total would be much better. Smaller Japchae app that's not a $20 offering would be a good idea too.
