Joia on Main in Newmarket is a gem that’s perfect for a cozy night out or a special celebration. From the moment you walk in, the warm and inviting atmosphere sets the tone for a great dining experience. The staff are incredibly attentive and friendly without being overbearing, making you feel genuinely welcome. We started with the Frito Misto and Bruschetta both were delicious. We shared pizzas and pastas and all were amazing, very impressed by all the flavours crust on the pizza's were crispy and sauce on the pasta very super creamy. Overall, Joia on Main offers a mix of great food, excellent service, and a charming ambiance. I’ll definitely be back, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a spot that feels both upscale and approachable.

I’ve been to Joia many times, and the place itself is beautiful. The winter view is absolutely stunning, and the atmosphere is always cozy and inviting. However, the service is consistently disappointing. The servers come across as cold and dismissive, almost as if they think they’re above the guests. It’s unprofessional and makes me wonder if they’re actually trained to be this rude while still pretending to be polite. For a place as lovely as Joia, the staff’s attitude really brings the experience down. One small thing I’ve also noticed is that there’s no complimentary bread at the start of the meal. They’ll bring the oil for it, but the bread itself has to be ordered separately. It’s a minor detail, but for an Italian restaurant, it feels like a missed opportunity to create a more welcoming dining experience. I keep coming back for the view and ambiance, but I truly hope the service improves—and a few thoughtful touches like complimentary bread wouldn’t hurt, either. These small changes could really elevate the restaurant to its full potential.

Quaint, high quality food and atmosphere, cozy, comfortable. First time visit and it was a very wonderful experience. My partner and I happened to find this place walking down the main Street strip. Definitely try the chicken pesto pizza. This is new found favorite.

This was the first time at Joia's. We were seated on the patio, and it was a lovely evening. We ordered two virgin mojitos, the bruschetta, as an appetizer to share and our mains at the same time as they looked busy. The drinks came in 10 minutes, but it took about 30 minutes to get the appetizer. I was pleasantly surprised by the bruschetta. It was laid out on a thin, pizza style flat crust with fresh tomatoes, olive oil, and garlic. It was delicious!😋 We both ordered the Linguine Pescatore, which had small pieces of salmon, octopus, mussels, and clams. I was looking forward to this dish but it took almost an hour to come to the table!! Service was extremely slow all around; I'm not sure if this is standard for a Saturday evening. As we waited, so did others. Everyone was looking around and looking at the dishes coming out to the other tables. Unfortunately, the dish was a bit salty and very oily. I was too hungry by that time to send mine back, but my friend sent her's back and ordered the Pesto pizza. The pizza took about 15 minutes to come. I'm glad we had good conversation to cover the long wait. I may come back to try something else on the menu, and maybe the service will be improved.

We came for a Sunday lunch on a nice sunny day, sat right next to the pizza oven. It was a perfect place for a slow lunch with family. Great appetizers, the pizza was quite decent, and the risotto was surprisingly good. Definitely the ambience/view of Fairy Lake is part of the experience. Good option if you’re craving Italian.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Toronto. It’s north of the city by about 50 minutes (Newmarket) located in the old town. And it’s an absolute gem serving authentic Italian meals that range from pizza, pasta and other classics like risotto and veal. The quality is the food is exceptional and consistent. I’ve been many time and I have never been disappointed. The owner maintains a family like atmosphere making everyone feel welcome and appreciated. My favorite meal is the their pizza (cooked in a wood burning oven) and spaghetti bolognese. The restaurant has a cool open air concept. Great seating indoors and outside on the patio. If you find yourself north is the city for golf or any other activity, bookmark this place. Well worth a visit.

3.9/5 The food here is decent but it’s definitely the ambiance and vibe of fairy lake that you are paying for. Unless you’re sitting on the large terrace, the inside isn’t anything special. The menu boasts a plethora of options and despite the food tasting okay, the price tag doesn’t justify the quality or portion size (at least in my opinion 🤷🏽♀️) The cheesecake was soggy and didn’t have that flaky base that you want a cheesecake to have and the two fish specials (that cost $40 per dish) just wasn’t very filling/satisfying. I will admit that the grilled octopus, Aperol spritz and cappuccino were all delicious though 🍸☕️👌🏽

Our first time at this restaurant and overall it was nice. The pizza was amazing! The thin crust was delicious, and the dough was nice and soft. It's not hard at all. The beet and arugula salad was very tasty. Service was ok... Maybe she was having an off night. I would definitely go back to give it another try.
