HQ Restaurant and Tap House

Met with 14 friends for dinner. Staff were on top of things. Food came out in a timely manner and everyone was impressed with the timeframe considering it was a large order going in at the same time. Our food was hot - not like other places where you can tell that some food sat waiting for the rest to finish. Server was great at timing follow up. Had beef dip. The dip was a little salty for my taste, but it was still delicious. Everyone ordered something different and all agreed their meal was fantastic.

Second time ordering take out. First time it was fish and chips. The fish was too greasy and the fries…the portion of fries was ridiculous! This time we ordered the burger with mushrooms and fries on the side. The burger was really good! The fries however, add more fries! Why wouldn’t you give lots of fries!?!?!?

Place was very cozy, baby friendly (room for car seat/stroller etc). Food was amazing and service was outstanding !! Awesome experience. Thank you !!

Keep trying to give HQ a chance, support local and all but their food is not consistent. The fish and chips were +++greasy and cold tonight . This is the second time now that we have been disappointed with the fish and chips. We tried the burger deal which came to $60+ dollars for two burgers with a side salad instead of fries. Think this will be the last time!

Both HQ restaurants are unabashedly mediocre. They mainly cater to boomers who live in/near Craighurst/Horseshoe Valley and to people who don't have many other options in Craighurst or Moonstone so suffer through this sub-par place (sub-par when it comes to food, not prices). The menu is antiquated and all the food is bland and poorly prepared. They could at least have fresh cut french fries, but it's all that pale, tasteless frozen stuff. The Craighurst location has a decent atmosphere on the bar side (once you get past the inside entrance that looks like an abandoned church basement), but the Moonstone place has zero charm and suffers from terrible ventilation as well as the signature mediocre food. Dry and tasteless burger patties with scant toppings? Check. Crunchy under-cooked eggplant parm? Check. Greasy fish-and-chips with those bland mealy frozen fries? Check. I could go on. We keep trying with the hope of something better, but it's all pretty awful and there are way better restaurants in Barrie and Orillia at the same price point. Don't give these lazy owners your money.

Finally had a chance to check out this local gem and it was fantastic! Brooke was our server and she was super pleasant and provided excellent service! The wings were delicious! Will definitely be back!

The staff are friendly, the food is ok, but it’s not consistent. It’s overpriced, but I think most restaurants are overpriced these days. For some reason, when you order takeout, you get the smallest portion of sides imaginable. This Additional order of fries cost $5
