Hammerheads fish and chips on Ottawa Street is the best fish and chips spot in the city. It's outstanding that they make such amazing gluten-free fish and chips. The fish tastes like I'm back in England. Generous portions and friendly, knowledgeable staff.

This place was mind blowing. My friend is Celiac and has never had gluten free fish and chips in his life and this establishment was not only incredible for him, but incredible for everyone else in the group who have eaten fish and chips before. Compared and surpassed all other fish and chips places. We got the 4 piece haddock fish and chips and it came with the largest pieces ever, not greasy at all, no excessive dough, just perfect. The fries were everything you want out of fries. Classic thick cut fries. And don’t even get me started on the excellent customer service and atmosphere of the small yet mighty restaurant. Such good people so kind. I love you Hammerhead.

Just found my new favourite fish and chips place! I’ve been meaning to try Hammerhead’s for a while and I’m so glad I finally did. The halibut was tasty, the batter was crispy, the portion of fries was an excellent size (not too big) and they were seasoned perfectly. The gravy was delicious, so were the tartar sauce and coleslaw - all made in house too! I’m already craving more. I WILL BE BACK SOON!!

Thought I had my regular fish and chips places until we went to Hammerheads. We had no idea it was gluten free, and I can tell you, it doesn't taste gluten free!! Great tasting fish, crispy batter, very flavourful and fresh. Fries were cooked to perfection!! This will be our new go-to when we crave fish! Portions were above board too!! Very satisfying!

I have been the hammerheads many times and I have never been disappointed. The food is always great and the service always friendly. Most recently I had tried their rockfish and street corn. I would highly recommend a try!

First time ordering from here. Thought I’d try it since I heard they were having their birthday special. The fish and chips were good. The order of shrimp (3) and scallops (3) for $17 was a joke but nothing beats the robbery of their “large” coleslaw for a whopping $8!!! To top it off the container (the size of a Ben and Jerry’s ice cream) was 3/4 full. Absolute joke! If you're running a promo, you should plan and manage your time accordingly instead of making your customers who have placed an online order with a specific pick-up time wait for whenever you happen to get to their order. When businesses are blatantly gouging their customers and to top it off lack in the most basic customer service skills, I'd much rather go elsewhere. Response to Owner: After reading your response my opinion of your establishment is reaffirmed. You are under the assumption that I am unaware of the cost of raw materials and therefore justifying your cost to the consumer. $3.20 per seafood is gouging, especially for what I got today. As far as the cost of your coleslaw, it’s laughable that you would try and tell me that $8 for a partly empty tub is acceptable. Thank you for taking the time to lecture me on the cost of food.

UPDATE: The restaurant reached out directly after our previously bad experience. They offered us another meal to make it right and it was so much better (and like previous visits) this time. I think I just caught them on an off day, where a myriad of bad things piled up (Service and food issues). Every person I spoke to this time with was super friendly. The food was excellent. It was a complete change from my previous visit. Everything was fresh, super hot and absolutely delicious! The only tip of advice, maybe wrap the lemon in a paper or have some way of separating it. The lemon juice leaks onto the fish and makes it stick to the paper and the breading peels off only where the lemon juice is. The rest of the fish was fine just the closest piece to the lemon gets a like messed up. Last time it was way worse than this as the lemon was actually on top of the fish! Do not skip out on this place! It is so good and such a hard thing to find with it being completely gluten free! **Original Review Below** Little disappointed. Came in and was asked to pay again even though I'd paid on the website. Had to argue with the girl for a bit before she understood. Had to show her my credit card statement. Got home and the lemon being inside the package with the fish made 2/6 pieces a melted mess. Still really tasty but pretty poor quality control here compared to when I'd been previously. Also the gravy, mushy peas and curry sauce were all ice cold and I got home like 5 minutes after picking it up. And paid for a Medium gravy and got a small. Again, attention to detail has gotten poor.
