First time there for breakfast. It also excellent, service was great, prices were very reasonable and food was also excellent. I'll go back again in a heart beat

Always great food from this location. Fresh, hot and large portions. Excellent price for 2 meals less than 40.00. Location is busy but it runs smooth and without fail.

Halibut House is a great place to enjoy halibut and chips at a reasonable price given the serving sizes. Jose will cook your fish with a light batter upon request. It is tasty and can be enjoyed with coleslaw, french fries or sweet potato fries. I highly recommend the battered mushrooms in advance. Cheesecake selections from The Cheesecake Factory are available for desert. The atmosphere is comfortable but a little spartan as is the norm in most f & c establishments but Jose and the other members of staff make it a warm and welcoming experience. In an era when the art of properly cooking fish and chips in general appears to be declining, as is the portion size, this location of Halibut House is a welcomed exception.

Tables and chairs are well spaced. You don't feel cluster in this restaurant. The price is low for breakfast special. The price for fish and chips is competitive. Only one waitress but she does a good job. I gave her tips.

Fantastic fish and chips! Batter was light and crispy, fries were perfectly cooked. Tartar sauce on the table. We got our food fast and it was delicious. Friendly staff and good service. Excited to come back

We stopped eating at Halibut house because of horrible experiences at the Dundas and Walkers Line location. They were so bad we didn't go for years, and then gambled and gave this location a try, and we are sooooo glad we did . The food had large portions, tasted great, was hot, golden and crispy. I had 3 special requests, malt vinegar, lots and lots of tartar sauce, and extra salad dressing. They generously accomated all requests. The even thoughtfully taped all three salad dressings together so they wouldn't spill. The staff was very friendly and helpful, which is a rarity these days. Keep up the great work, we'll see you again soon!

4.3/ 5.0 Better than the reviews, but I read them and can understand. Grabbed a 2 halibut, chips, coleslaw and gravy as a walk-in. The owner/manager Susan was on the ball. She tried to down sell me to haddock, but I stayed firm. She was likeable and funny. The place has a bit of a scrambled vibe. Kind of between a traditional sit down restaurant and high intensity take out. And they decided. So take out, containers, supplies are all kind of in the front area (see pics). But. The halibut was nicely portioned, crispy. Fries were large cut traditional, not overt greasy. Oil based coleslaw was average, gravy was tasty and a bit above average. I would get it again. Cost was $21 for a fries and Chips.

Halibut House on Appleby surpassed our expectations for dinner, BUT NOT FOR BREAKFAST (more on that at the end). Fish was perfectly cooked (tried both: Halibut and Haddock), the batter was crispy and not oily, and the French fries are out of this world (I'm a picky French Fry eater, since I don't eat them often.) Great place for lunch, clean atmosphere and friendly staff. BREAKFAST: Very disappointed - raw-white potatoes, wrong bread served, toast was really not toasted, stringly pea meal bacon. Won't be back for breakfast, don't recommended. (1 star rating for breakfast, 4 stars for fish dinner!).
