One of my fav things is that they have an extensive menu of items that are usually available all day and they don’t skip out on portions. Soups, porridge, hardo bread, ackee and saltfish still available at night. Their fried dumplings are good. I only eat chicken patties with coco bread and they have both. Various real deal drinks. They even have grapenut and dragon stout. My food rating factors in the extensive menu and the frequent daily availability. Food wise aside from porridge, patties/coco bread, hardo and soup. I think their oxtail is really good and I like their ackee & saltfish. The jerk sandwich is good - I do wish it had a lil less chicken tho I usually take a piece out and eat it with something else (if you’re not into spicy tho i don’t recommend). I don’t like boiled dumplings so I like that they’ll just give me yam and banana. The coslaw isn’t mayo based it’s more vinegary - I like it tho. Their rice & peas is good too the right amount of coconut & im pretty sure they boil the beans instead of using canned ones which that makes a huge difference It would be great if they could add breadfruit to their menu. I also think they’d set themselves far above the rest if they had the time to make their own patties - we could get chicken & cheese, beef & cheese, calloo, saltfish - they could even experiment with a jerk patty

I have been ordering Ellis kitchen food for many years and really enjoy the food. The portions were great and I get food every weekend. The last couple of weeks I notice the portion of rice has diminished. I need more rice than that. Don’t do this Ellis we have a beautiful relationship. Bring back the right portion.

Listen, this is my first time ever trying curry chicken and I got it in a roti. Whoever made this curry chicken roti, god has truly blessed you with the most magical hands. This was the most delicious thing I’ve ever put inside my mouth. I had to stop mid way to write this. I was about to call and say all this. But I had to stop myself. My goodness, hats off to the chef. This has been absolutely damn delicious.

I had the pleasure of dining at Ellis Kitchen and apart from good food 😋. I learnt that they have been in business for 20 years. I had a sample of the ackee and saltfish with yam and bananas and it was real refreshing to get some authentic jamaican food. Not filled with oil and all that. Just real good food. The boss herself was just pleasant and her daughters all filled the place with smiles. I had the jerk chicken to go and that was just filled with flavors. I will be sharing and going back for sure. If you are ever in Hamilton go check them out. We also met her daughter that made mocktails and was informed she has a restaurant as well Zeal multi cultural cuisine which is also close by . Did not get to try more food options so can't give 5 star as yet but will be back to try some more options . They also had a lactose free ice cream. Mango flavor . Also blue mountain coffee ice cream

Ordered a couple of chicken roti with extra gravy along with a beef patty in coco bread. Patty and coco bread was on point. Chicken roti is very very flavourful and great portion. Definitely would come back. Only downside is that I ended up with about 4 separate occasions of little bones in the chicken so would be nice if they better clean the kitchen so it has no bones

In the past I’ve frequented Ellis Kitchen at their previous location I was sad to see that they closed. I learned of their new location opened on Ottawa and I had to stop in. I was greeted by a friendly staff member and decided to get a small callalloo with boiled dumpling, yam, green banana and a slice of fried plantain. To drink I had a Milo. This meal did not disappoint, all the flavors of my childhood came right back. If you are looking for an authentic Jamaican breakfast in Hamilton this is the place to go. I feel that everything was reasonably priced as well. They had porridge but I didn’t get it this time next time! Get out there and show them love. 🖤💛💚

Update 1) Been in a couple times now, only to have had the spicy beef patty so far. Just got the rum raisin ice cream to try today. Their patties are the best in the city I have found from Michidean. I can't wait to try the dinner menu. Updated 2) Dinner menu try: way to expensive for what you actually get! Ventured in today a Wed Evening to try out dinner, we all did get the smalls to try as it's $13.75 for small. We tried the curry chicken which was literally 2 small pieces with the bone in. Not impressed. Then the Jerk Chicken was tasty and not disappointing at all. And lastly the Fried chicken was again very good. 4 small meals and 3 patties +$60. The coleslaw was also sad wet cabbage. The best thing besides the omg beef patties was the Rice, I really enjoyed that. The Rice is what saved this family adventure today. Update 3) I never give u on local businesses. Attempt 3, hubby and I went in to try the Roti, he choose Goat and I the chicken. Asked if boneless told yes!, well it is not 2nd bite in I almost died as there was a slither bone and this continued through th whole meal, bones in both Goat and Chicken tons in the chicken tho. Was not enjoyable at all after that. Taste was good but not great. Will not be returning after this however. $40 2 Rotis and waited 17 min for them to make so expected greatness and got sub par was barely warm. Can't say we didn't try

Simply The Best Jamaican food in Hammertown, hands down. When I order, I always order large size, so I can have some for next days lunch. That's how much I love it. Today I had Jerk Chicken, and let me tell you, every bite was to die for. Thanks again and keep up the good work ;). Cheers!
