I had a very disappointing experience at Dickey’s Barbecue Pit in Pickering. To start, the food wasn’t even warm when it arrived at our table. The brisket, which I was really looking forward to, had a distinct, unpleasant smell that made it hard to eat. It didn’t taste fresh at all, which was a major letdown. For the price they charge, I expected way better quality. The portions were also surprisingly small, making the high prices feel completely unjustified. On top of that, the overall atmosphere was uninviting. The dining area wasn’t very clean, and there was an off-putting smell in the air, which only added to the poor dining experience. The staff seemed disengaged and uninterested in providing good service; it felt like they just wanted to get us in and out as quickly as possible. I was really looking forward to trying this place but left feeling completely disappointed. I won’t be coming back and can’t recommend it to anyone looking for good barbecue.

Food was not up to the standard that other Bbq places in the area are. Brisket and chicken was just sad, dry, no flavour, and only partially saved by a mediocre bbq sauce. Onion rings were a salty oily mess. Fries were decent but overall was a waste of money, go somewhere else.

My review is very selective because the only thing I got was the poutine and I have to say I was disappointed. It was also my first time at the restaurant. The gravy was so runny that my poutine got soggy, I didn’t finish it. While I guess it’s a preference, I prefer my gravy for a poutine to be thick. And this was not it. While maybe the, I believe, the brisket poutine to be better, there’s a 99.9% its the same runny gravy so if that is not your thing and your looking to just eat just a poutine, New York Fries is just down the street at PTC. I can’t speak for the other dishes but I have feeling they might be more worth your time. Other than that, the location was fine and the service was fine.

Soo disappointed!!! Go to Pig Out instead. Meat portions very small. $25 for 2 meat meal had 7 oz (combined)of brisket and chicken. Brisket sandwich was almost as thin as a McDonald's Jr hamburger. The baked beans tasted like Heinz canned baked beans. Potato salad tasted like grocery store quality. The barbecue sauce was weird. Tasted like low-grade Our Compliments label.

Was going to Wendy's but thought we would try this place...should have stuck to the original plan. The service from the woman was meh...she wasn't very pleasant... they guy was a bit more pleasant. We ordered the brisket plate...came with fries,. coleslaw and a bun. The brisket was over cooked and definitely needed the sauce (we got barely 2 tablespoons), a handful of fries and a weird tasting coleslaw...wasn't appealing to look at and didn't taste any better. The bun was chewy and although I asked if the brisket was hot and they said yes, it was room temperature. We had to ask for cutlery, napkins and ketchup. That'll be our first and last visit. Was very disappointed ☹️

First time here (halal meat). The portion and price for 2 brisket poutines were good. Bought the refillable cup for 3.50 so 1 to refill going again The seasoning of salt&pepper I tasted more than the meat. I will go 1 more time to try 2 more things before I make up my mind. To me, Pig Out and Horn Dawgs are still closer. They should add bacon to their poutine.

I tried the brisket sandwich and the jalapeno sausage. Sandwich was really good, added cheese to it, and definitely would get again. Sausage was good. New restaurant, so the atmosphere was very vibrant and contemporary.

We just finished ordering from Dickey’s Barbecue Pit earlier this evening and my wife and I were quite disappointed with the food and experience. When we arrived, the restaurant was empty and how it works as you order at the front and then pick up your order once it is ready. You can dine in, but this place is optimized for takeout. The ordering process was pretty straightforward and the menu was available online however, when we got home and opened our order, we were immediately dismayed, both at the portions and quality of our food. The portions were very tiny for what we paid. We ordered two combo plates which cost us just under $50 with taxes (tip not included), and it came with a small main portion and two tiny sides. They didn’t even include two drinks with the combos as they were charging extra for that. I ordered the combination platter, which was a combination of brisket and burnt ends and my wife ordered a combo platter which consisted of brisket and marinated chicken breast. The brisket itself didn’t have much of a flavour and the burnt ends were pure fat and borderline inedible. Her chicken tasted like fast food chicken and had a bit of a broth flavour to it. The sides were okay but exceptionally tiny. The icing on the cake was my Caesar salad that I ordered came without any Caesar dressing. Overall, for the amount you pay and the portion/quality received, this place is a complete rip off. Please be aware as I was going through other reviews that the vast majority of reviews are fake. Look for any reviews with photos, as those are more likely to be authentic. If you’re looking for good barbecue, I would look elsewhere.
