“Desi Roots is the WORST! They gave me a stale samosa that was clearly 2-3 days old. I had guests at home, and this ruined everything. No respect for quality, no care for their customers. Absolutely disgusting. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy. Never going back!”

We recently dined at this Indian restaurant in Newmarket, and I must say, it was an incredible experience! The food was absolutely delicious. I especially appreciated that the spice level was just right for me, making it enjoyable without being overwhelming. The service was equally outstanding. The lady staff member who attended to us was so accommodating and genuinely kind, making the experience even more memorable. I can’t believe this was my first time trying an Indian restaurant here in Newmarket. I wish I had discovered this gem sooner! Highly recommend it to anyone looking for great food and excellent service.

We had a great experience at this restaurant! The food (Thali) was very good, with flavors that were perfectly balanced and not overly spicy, which is great for those who aren't too familiar with Indian food or have low spice tolerance. The prices were very reasonable, offering excellent value for the quality of the food. The ladies working there, were friendly and made the atmosphere feel warm and welcoming. The only improvements I’d suggest are speeding up the service a little and turning down the music volume for a more relaxed dining experience. Overall, a wonderful place to enjoy delicious food—I’ll definitely be back!

Great place for good desi street food! They have an extensive menu with main meal items too. Great service by Saib, who was super friendly. We had the samosa chaat which was good and the channa batura was great, the batura was fresh and not very greasy, which was great! Thanks!

Absolutely delicious food. Probably the best Punjabi food north of Toronto and outside Brampton. Restaurant is clean, mainly take out. Family run. We got the chole bhature, dal makhani , garlic naan, and butter naan for takeout. Good was ready quickly. Everything tasted authentic and good. Willd definately be back for more. Very happy to have them in Newmarket!

Great Food. I was greeted by kind gentleman. He helped me to choose something that I could try as a thali meal. Abita of curry goat and a veg option and yogurt and rice and to finish an amazing dessert. Rasmala. I also had butter Naan. The mango Lassi was freshly made. Price was amazing for the amount of food I received. I was full. Great service and amazing food. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Can't wait to try more of this food.

Update: We've been back a couple of times, and we've tried more options. It's safe to say that the food is delicious and rich with flavor! Not to mention, it is very filling with great prices! ____ We're looking forward to trying more off of the menu! We have been waiting for Desi Roots to open, and they did not disappoint! What we had: Samosa Chana Dal Makhani Chicken Butter Rice Plain Naan Portion: The portions are very filling! We have big appetites, and there were still leftovers! Food: The chicken butter's sauce was so rich and creamy! The Dal Makhani was also rich and full of flavor. The samosas were deliciously spicey. Staff: Super welcoming very kind, and they even offered complimentary naan! Price is very affordable!
