I visited Das Schnitzel for the first time today at lunch. There were several people dining in and a lady waiting for takeout who seemed to be a regular already. Both of these are good signs. The restaurant was clean and tidy with a simple layout. I had the Pork Schnitzel on a Bun with Saurkraut Onions and Bacon. I wasn't expecting the massive amount of food I got. This place rivals the portion sizes at Burger Barn!!! The schnitzels (2of them) were a perfect golden colour . I couldn't finish my meal and saved the other half of my sandwich for later. It was cut in half already as if they already knew! Great staff, great food...I am definitely returning!!

And Chicken Schnitzel was juicy with a perfect crust. My only issues are there wasn't enough sauerkraut or onions on the sandwich, there was also no mustard. A sandwich like that really needs acidity. Poutine fries were soggy.

So nice to see a new business where PocoLoco (then Gorilla Cheese) - used to be! The delicious smell lured me in off the street. Love the renovations - there's ample seating, even seats for when you're waiting in line! This location is not accessible - but if you called in you could have your order carried down the steps. Considering how Black Forest has gone down in quality I love that there's a fresh, new option for German style food in the city! The food tastes amazing (and that is coming from a German girl who has had German schnitzel in Germany!) Four stars: not enough mushroom/sauce (Hunter) and vegetable topping (Hungarian). But portion sizes and taste are spot on and I like their take on German potato salad!

I went to check out Das Schnitzel on opening day. I was amazed by the portion size! A meal-sized poutine was only $5.95, and the two pieces of schnitzel in the sandwich and as a combo were huge! The schnitzel's breading has a wonderful flavour. I tried the cucumber salad and the German potato salad and I was not disappointed. Both were delicious. The prices are more than reasonable for the quantity of food you get - both my wife and I could not finish our portion and had to bring some home for later. The staff were very friendly and happy to serve. While we were eating someone asked about a specific condiment that the store did not have. Before their food was ready the staff had run out and bought the requested condiment and returned to the store with it. Customer service like this goes a long way. Even though I wasn't impacted I certainly noticed it!
