Chef Martin’s Sushi House

Sushi was not very good at all and expensive. The rice stuck to the takeout containers and made a mess of the sushi and the rolls are mostly rice with very little filling. The place had a bad smell inside when I went to pick up my order. We ate about half the food and chucked the rest.

The food was terrible. Very large rolls that had a large amount of rice and cucumber compared to the other ingredients. The salmon in particular was sliced paper thin and you could barely taste it. The sushi was also soggy and the bottoms of all the sushi rolls stuck to the paper containers they use so the piece would come apart when you picked it up to eat. First time I actually threw out sushi, very expensive waste of money.

The Maki roll I had was quite good but some of the nigiri rolls were not fresh. The salmon had to have been older and I actually chose not to eat it. The shrimp and tuna seemed okay. I have been wanting to try this place for awhile and am saddened by this experience. Not going back and will go to the place off of Upper Centennial or August 8.

Criminally overpriced. This was almost 70$ through Uber Eats. In-store pricing isn't much better. August 8 provides infinitely better value and more menu items. I thought I'd give this place a chance and pay the premium. Incredibly disappointed.

Ordered Chef Martin sushi 🍣 It was delicious, sushi was beautifully made and presented. Fair portions and slices of fish in each roll, although I don’t love the odd number of items. The rice held well when dipped in the soy sauce which is always one of my quality sushi tests. Delivery took a bit longer than expected but worth the wait! HANDS DOWN, UNDENIABLY, the BEST sushi I’ve ever had! (And I used to work in Toronto and ate sushi all the time.) SUPER fresh ingredients that not only tasted AMAZING, but the presentation was very ARTISTIC! My wife, for whom sushi is not her go-to, DEVOURED IT! So GOOD! Even my kids (7&4) got in on the action! This was their first exposure to sushi and it couldn’t have been more PERFECT! Variety, colour, flavour, absolute DYNAMITE sushi! BRAVO Chef Martin and staff!!! We will recommend and return! P.S. - I've read a couple of negative reviews that mostly complain about wait times, and to those impatient malcontents I say; "You can't rush quality!" This sushi was definitely worth the wait!

Tastes good but I found that their sushi ingredient quality and chef skill/execution is inconsistent. The rice on the salmon avocado roll is minimal and isn’t well packed on the nori. What is more concerning is that the salmon has a slight fishy odour. Fortunately, the unagi (eel) is very delicious! The third image was taken in October 2020, in which the overall sushi quality was much higher.

Wow. So fresh. And the special rolls are awesome! Loved the volcano and onion roll especially. Super generous portion of seaweed salad too. Beautiful presentation as you can see. Call well in advance though, they were busy so we had to wait to be able to pick up our order. Totally worth the wait.
