Zenku Japanese To Go

Easily the best sushi in the area. We’ve gotten takeout here twice and both times everything was super fresh, well portioned and delicious. They have a mix of classics and some really unique signatures. Their scallop yubu tarts and the Snow White roll are my favourite so far! Although it’s take out only, the atmosphere is so cute and welcoming! Will definitely be back.

I am so glad I found this place! It serves as a nice treat for myself when I finish exams since the price is reasonable and the food is good. I got the Sushi & Maki A set (it is slightly offset in the photo because I had accidently shook it). I walked in to order, and the staff were really kind and quick to complete it. I strongly recommend checking out Zenku!

Fresh and quality sushi! Sushi rice is on point👌🏻 Even the apps were just another level. You can tell by the flavours of each dish. The sauce just hits different. Every item on the menu is really well crafted. The staff here are also very welcoming. What sets this place a part is that chef Ryan has immense experience in the culinary world. Zenku is more than just a sushi restaurant.

Craving sushi for dinner and found this take out spot. The restaurant looks nice and smells like it has good sushi, so I decided to try a few things. The Maki platter B seems to feature a different selection of rolls over time, but I had California roll, yam tempura roll, spicy salmon roll, salmon avocado roll, mad crab roll, double shrimp roll and dynamite roll. The first 4 rolls are common among sushi restaurants so I will not be reviewing those here. The rice is pretty well done, neither too sweet or sour. My favourite is the mad crab roll is a shrimp tempura roll with shredded imitation crab and spicy mayo on top. The sauce does not overpower the rest of the components. The shredded crab adds sweetness to the otherwise simply crunchy roll. Double shrimp is a close second, with two shrimp tempura in the middle and 1 cooked shrimp with torched mayo on top. This is such an excellent idea to add more shrimp flavour into the maki. Not on the menu online, is the zenku udon, a simple dashi broth udon with fish cake and deep fried tofu pocket. This is not simply a udon, but a warm flavourful delight that you can't easily find around town. I highly recommend ordering that to eat with sushi. Lastly, the highlight of the meal is their spicy salmon yubu tart. It is a recently popularized way of enjoying a rice ball adjacent product. The spicy salmon is enhanced by small bits of onion and green onion mixed together. The sweet tofu skin exterior rounds out the general flavour of the rice ball, such that soy sauce or wasabi are not necessary. I am very surprised by the quality of the food and can't wait to be back to try bento, donburi and tempura when I'm in the neighborhood. This is an excellent take out sushi restaurant that I would highly recommend to friends.

I ended up ordering 3 days in a row and still craving !! Theyre not in the photo but the corn ribs and sauce are definitely one of my favorite appetizers. Their yubu tarts = MUST TRY, and if you are struggling to decide on the menu, you can’t go wrong with their platter! They are so fresh and well put together, they dont fall apart and portion is big. Staff are very welcoming and patient, Im returning to try their udon soon!

Finally a spot near our house! So easy to order and so easy to pick up. What a great take out place. Service is friendly and food is delicious! The maki portions are reasonable. Can’t wait to try other items on the menu!

We enjoyed Sushi Platter A today, delicious! Will try Inari next time. Great service, thank you! ************ Went back today for lunch items. Just as good as last week, very consistent. Excellent sushi & maki! Young chef/owner and assistant are extremely polite and attentive, thank you! ************ Neighborhood gem! We picked up a Zenku lunch, 2 sushi lunches, black dragon roll, assorted sushi and a piece of matcha cheesecake. Fresh, excellent, reasonable cost, friendly service. We will be back! There is convenient small parking area at the back.
