Great pizzeria! The atmosphere was good and the attendants were super friendly. I love going to these kinds of pizza joints.

The food here is delicious ! I loved the pizzas and there’s many flavours and types to choose from. I got the duck, veggie and mushroom pizza and they were all great ! The truffle mac and cheese and tiramisu were also very tasty. The staff are kind and the restaurant is cute.

First pizza I’ve tried after moving to Toronto 2 years ago. It was Fried Eggplant pizza and it became my favourite Downtown pizza. Since then me and my partner dinned at Za Cafe and ordered out multiple times. It became “our place” in a sense, because we live not far away. We celebrated a couple of personal milestones and important dates there. So we have a special sentiment for this place. There is some renovation happening to the exterior of the building where Za Cafe is located, so you can’t really see there is a pizza place behind all that construction fence. Which I feel sorry about, because this place is a real find! Although it is clearly old, which you can tell from interior design, furniture and very old menu folders, the food and service is unexpectedly great! The place definitely has its vibe and soul. Here is the list of dishes that we tried and loved: Fried Eggplant pizza Margherita Mascarpone pizza Ceasar salad Arugula salad Tiramisu Negroni Shirley Temple The only recommendation I would give to the owners/people in charge: please update the menu folders :) But we are coming back anyway!

I made an online reservation for dinner the week before. The process was simple and straight forward. Za is a short 10 minute walk from Yonge-Dundas Square. We had dinner there after Mamma Mia at the Ed Mirvish Theatre. The service was friendly and the food was delicious. We ordered the smoked chicken pasta and three pizzas: fig, potato and smoked salmon. The fig pizza was recommended by our server and was definitely the best one. We will dine here again!

The food was decent overall, but the Mushroom Mafalda really stood out. Every bite was packed with mushrooms, and it was delicious! The Pepperoni Pizza was just okay—not particularly memorable. One disappointing aspect was when the server offered us dressing without mentioning it came with an extra charge. This felt misleading, as dressings are typically included unless stated otherwise. Clear communication about additional charges would have been appreciated.

The wood burning fireplace pizza was great. And the Caesar salad with grilled was also. Enjoyed the meal. They are a touch understaffed but very pleasant staff that was brisk and attentive with everything. Food came out with perfect timing. The place is cozy and getting a table by the wood oven at the back provides excellent aroma and heat. Very enjoyable.

Discovered by happenstance as it was close to our hotel. A bit hard to notice because of the scaffolding. Friendly welcome and quickly seated. Food was delicious. A little warm inside. Would definitely come again. Recommended.

I've been here once when they just opened and it's improved so much since then! There's a lot more room now. The server was kind and attentive, making sure our water glasses stay filled. It was fairly empty on Saturday afternoon which was nice. The truffle mac & cheese surprised me with how flavorful and yummy it was. And of course, their pizzas are pretty good too!
