Every dish we tried we liked. Very comfortable setting. We couldn't tell if the Orion beer is real because they didn't open the bottles in front of us (as is normal for a bar in japan) but it did have a nice malt flavour so we think it's authentic 😆, the highball could be stronger. Would recommend, would return. Best dish for me was the hotate wasa

The torched salmon sushi was probably my favourite item on the menu! Second would have been the karaage, super moist! The gyoza was what you'd expect but still great! They had a good selection of drinks. The house made sake was strong and coated my mouth the entire night (no complaints). The atmosphere was nice, felt very comfortable and the staff were helpful. Great service here and we didn't feel rushed at all. Just a reminder they don't split bills here

2024 October 4★ Located in a small restaurant neighborhood strip. This izakaya isn't your traditional one with skewered meats. Instead, you'll find some unique mix of offerings. Torikawa 6.50 Fatty chicken skin. Interesting. Certainly pairs with beer. Unhealthy, but tastes great. Inari 5.90 Tofu pouches. Sweet and savory. Though a bit too sweet for me. Ehire 9.50 Grilled stingray fin. Interesting texture. A bit salty. Again, beer food. Grilled Oyster 14.50 Huge oysters with blackbird bread. Oysters were cooked perfectly. Bread is ok. Yuugi Sushi (6pc) 17.50 Saba Sushi (6pc) 16.50 Both were pressed sushi. Both were good, though the mackerel was more fishy. Paid Street parking.

I love their fried chicken sauce, I would like to know the recipe. The sushi is fine, a little bit fishy but acceptable.

Visiting Toronto, this place stood out. Everything we tried was great, especially the wagyu roll. The meat was so tender that I couldn't even tell I was biting into meat. The miso soup was flavorful, maybe a little on the saltier side, but I loved it. The creamy noodle dish with pork was something I liked more than I thought I would. The flavors and the sauce all worked very well together. The crispy salmon dish was amazing as well. The Australian wagyu beef with rice was the least impressive dish. It was just a standard stir-fried rice and beef dish. The service was good. There's always someone around to get the attention of. We did have an awkward interaction where I asked for extra napkins while the sever was refilling our water cups. The server didn't respond and we were just left wondering whether the server heard me or not. After a bit, the server did come back with the napkins. The atmosphere here is okay. The seating is pretty tight with tables which I'm never a fan of but you gotta work with the space you have I guess. The place can get a little loud. The bathroom is a single person bathroom that's decently clean.

This Izakaya is truly exceptional. Each dish I had the pleasure of ordering was prepared with great skill and attention to detail, especially the beef omurice rice, which evoked fond memories of my time in Japan. For a brief moment, I felt as though I was transported back to the heart of that wonderful country. Overall, it was a delightful experience, and I highly recommend this place.

Service was good. We came in on a Wednesday evening and there weren’t a lot of customers, so we got a table right away. Had the Calpico-Hi. It was sweet from the Calpico and tasted pretty watered down unfortunately. My friend got the Lemon Sour and it was also pretty watered down - tasted like iced water with lemon. The sushi was fine, had a good amount of the fish but was overly salty for my taste. The beef tongue was overcooked and tough which was disappointing. It was on their specials. The karaage was nice, pretty moist and seasoned well. The ebimayo was good too I think. It was crispy, and inside were small pieces of shrimp kind of breaded together. The vibe in the restaurant is cool, and the service is good, but the food and drinks could use some improvement.

We were very excited to try this place as the menu looked very exciting. Unfortunately we found the food to be good but a little underwhelming. We really liked the Hotate Wasabi (scallop dish) and the fried salmon collar special, both very strong dishes. The Kobe Sushi was good but not a stand out. The Ramen Poutine had very good gravy and when you had the pork, pickled ginger, cheese and fries in one bite, it was delicious. Unfortunately you could only have that bite approximately 3 times since there were only three pieces of pork on the dish. (Suggestion: add cut up pork belly to the dish so that you can have all the flavors in more bites). The Grilled Oyster special was good, but it was overly dry and really lacked acid. I added some of the sauce from the Salmon Cheek and it helped a bit, but would have loved more sauce to soak up with the bread. The last dish was the Udon Pepperoncino which unfortunately was lacking acid and the kick of ‘pepperoncino’ we expected, so it felt flat and heavy. That dish could be killer with a little more balance and spice. Even though I was disappointed in some of the dishes, I felt the concepts were very strong, so I’d return to see if this was just a one-off issue. Great staff and a fun, intimate environment - oh and the beer was delicious as well.
