The best jianbing, buns, and tofu soup I’ve had in Canada. Tastes very close to authentic northern Chinese breakfast. Buns were freshly made and steamed - it’s so delicious and totally worth the wait!

I had the 猪肉包子 (Pork Meat Bun)牛肉大饼 (Braised Beef Wrap)and 凉皮 (cold wheat noodles). The cold what noodles black vinegar with garlic and the slightest hot oil is probably the best I've had in a very very long time. The Meat Buns are so good as they honestly taste so homemade. They don't taste as savoury as the buns you get from places that mass produce them and they're not suppose too. The bun isn't perfectly fluffy and even has a slight chewiness. However, this is exactly how Tianjin meat buns are. So nostalgic of my time in Northern China 😭. Price is very reasonable as they don't skimp on meat. Ironically, the cold noodles (Carb) was what I was missing the most. The only thing that was meh was the braised beef wrap. It's a bit too salty for me. However, I know everyone has their family recipe and I'm use to it being slightly sweeter. However, they do it a bit differently by adding romaine lettuce which adds another layer of crunch and freshness. 4.5/5

I'm always on the look out for Northern Chinese cuisine coz my mom grew up in Northern China. I brought her to 源源 today and she's really excited to see all the familiar dishes on the menu. We ordered 熏肉烧饼,肉夹馍,炸糕,熏鸡架,豆腐脑,凉皮。炸糕 and 熏鸡架 are my mom's favorite. The portion is good and the taste is authentic (at least my mom approved). This food court has only a few restaurants and might look a bit run down. But the seating area is spacious, bright and airy. We feel safe dining in or waiting for takeout here.

They have one of the best cold noodle dish I have ever had !! Really declious onion pancake (different from what we normally get from other places). Only complain is that I don’t feel they are very clean. The lady at the front and another lady at the back kept coughing (no mask on) while making food :(

As we know, the most famous Chinese steamed stuffed buns is “Tanjin Goubuli”. Goubuli is the most delicious buns I have ever eaten in my life. I ate Goubuli in autumn at 2014. It is impossible to taste a traditional Chinese food out of it’s original region, While you could try some things similar in Toronto. The flavor maybe not as good as the best one-Goubuli , but it can easy away your homesick sentiment. Closing to the northern flavor of China. Come on, try to taste the steamed stuffed buns in the restaurant. In my opinion it’s better than other Tianjin flavor buns. I order the pure pork buns every time. For another important thing, the price is acceptable too.

Wonderful family-run business (Northern China - Tianjin food) hidden in a little plaza. Very friendly servers. They speak Mandarin and English. Saw someone order clams, they looked pretty great. Hot and sour soup was 👌

I ordered the Ge Da (geda) soup, spicy chicken and jellyfish with corriander, and egg-and-chive pie. I’ve included photos. The soup’s broth was delicious; the soup included little dumplings (like German Spaetzle), dried shrimp and cabbage. The chicken dish was one of the best things I’ve eaten this year. The seemingly “shredded” chicken was perfect, and I love corriander. The jellyfish fulfilled its role of providing a subtle, contrasting texture to the generous amount of corriander. The sauce was your typical Northern Chinese chili oil sauce but not too spicy. The egg-and-chive pie’s texture was on-point—crispy, piping hot and delicious, with a generous amount of chives. Service was speedy. Hey, despite it being clean and all, don’t come here for the ambience. But the food is good. I’ll be back. —- Ok, it’s now a month later and I’ve been back during their slow time, just after the lunch rush. I was the only one in the restaurant and I witnessed them doing an intensive cleaning of the entire place. It looked like a routine thing they were doing, so rest assured hygiene and cleanliness are looked after despite the dated décor. Now, for the food. Northern Chinese food was an acquired taste for me. It’s very different. I love spicy food and the fish in spicy soup did not disappoint. I’ve had this elsewhere and this is the best version of it I’ve ever had! Fragrant, spicy and generous. I also had the Napa cabbage with dried shrimp sauce. The dried shrimp paired surprisingly well with the cabbage, and it was a perfect, non-spicy counterpoint to the spiciness of the soup.

We're kinda new to northern chinese cuisine. the dining area wasn't super full when we visited, this is our 2nd visit as of this writing. Yuan Yuan took the space in the plaza where Spicy Garden used to be. Service is typical chinese service - kinda rude, so nothing new there As for the food : we ordered braised pork burger, scallion pancakes, soft tofu soup, potatoes and garlic & seafood noodles. braised pork burger : ok meat to fat ratio, not enough sauce, good ratio of amount of pork filling to the bun, bun was crispy on the outside, but the bottom half of the bun was kinda thick. scallion pancakes : nice and crispy but barely any scallions soft tofu soup : both myself and the wife enjoyed this, kinda like dessert tofu with a lightly sweet soup, down side was we only ordered the small size :) potatoes and garlic : first time trying this, has some hot oil, not super spicy at all, would order again. seafood noodles : nothing super fancy about these noodles, lightly sauced a bit on the oily side. Likely not to order this one again. Note : their noodle selection is very few. Likely to visit again to try other dishes. This resto accepts cash & debit, uncertain as of this writing on credit card
