Ye Olde Squire - Upper James St.

I regularly go to Ye Olde Squire on Upper James for work lunches because it’s a great place. The wait staff is always super friendly and their menu has a lot of great options. Furthermore the food is consistently delicious. Stopped by today for lunch and tried the Royal Dublin burger. I was shocked by how massive it was. It’s a bacon cheeseburger with two chicken tenders on top (which were also very large) The burger was fantastic! Will have to order it again. Overall a great place to eat and will be back regularly.

We have been to Ye Olde Squire on Upper James a few times over the years and the food is always great and has been consistent. The service was good on this recent visit and everything came out on time. The prices are reasonable compared to other similar restaurants. We tried the Irish Nachos this time, they were really good, nice change using kettle cooked chips. For the mains we ordered the steak pie, comparable to a Scottish pie and the Fisherman’s platter. Both dishes were good and were enjoyed. The vegetables however could use some seasoning, they were a bit bland overall. If you’re ever in the area, stop in. Definitely a good restaurant worth checking out.

Places clean nice a little dark lots of people showing up food comes out excellent the people there are awesome. The vibe is fantastic easy to get in and out the patio looks good never been on it, but I’ve been everywhere inside. Been there a few times more than a few times love it had fish and chips number one. small negative people talking about hostess with short skirt could see her backside other than that awesome.

This was my first time at this location, and was extremely disappointing, started with being ask if i want to sit outside twice, and I said no both time, cud clearly see lots of available tables inside. Then once seated the table was very sticky as was the carpet, ignoring this I had high hopes for a great meal. Ordered the pizza burger, and a poutine, the burger was burnt and the poutine gravy was cold. All in all this meal was a disappointment and I will not return.

Went with family, was a nice experience. I enjoyed the liver and onions, they really give you a huge platter! I wish the fries were a little more tasty.

Phenomenal food. Delicious, great portion size. Ambience is great. Service is lovely. It was a great experience. I spent $80 plus tips on a two person meal which was worth the overall experience. Even McDonald’s is like $25 per person now.

My parents love this place and have been coming here to the Upper James location since it opened over 10 years ago. The food is consistently delicious and fresh as they say and over the years I've come from time to time and I would agree. It was my dad's birthday so of course we came to celebrate (he happened to be born on St. Patrick's Day so it's always a bit tough getting a table and they have a special menu that's only for that day but it's to be expected. The staff was helpful and kind with good service despite the chaos of a packed out place. We had to take the table on the patio which was chilly but thankfully they wrapped the patio with vapour barrier and had 3 propane heaters out there so we were nice and warm except for the feet where you could feel a bit of a chill but it was fine. We all ordered the same- Guinness steak pie with a pint of Guinness for my parents and a tea for me and hot chocolate for my wife. The food was excellent, the puff pastry on top was fresh, light and flaky. The steak was beautifully tender and well seasoned, accompanied by mixed vegetables and the famous Guinness sauce. It was our first time out at a restaurant as new parents and everything went well. We'll keep coming back here for years to come.

This was our first time here and it definitely DID NOT disappoint 😊 Our server was excellent and the food was sooooo delicious! I highly recommend coming because you will be back for more!! The only complaint I have is the restaurant itself was a little on the cooler side but other than that it was wonderful. 4/5 stars from me.
