Got the T bone steak and it was delicious. The steak was seasoned perfectly and fall of the bone tender. Rice was spiced amazing too. Comes with a side of free Lentil soup and mango juice. If you’re into spice ask for the hot sauce made of out of green chillies. Portions are huge and a great value for money as well. Highly recommended!

Generous portion sizes, great tasting food and kind service. Will definitely recommend to others. Tried the t-bone with pasta and goat meat and rice. Came with complementary lentil soup and mango juice, refilled upon request with no charge. Had the somali tea and burr/malawax and not super sweet just right. 👌🏾

Ifrah is the best out here. Friendly, funny and always smiling. Will be coming back often. This is my first time tasting Somalian dish and I 100% recommend this place.

Follow @bredgyeats for more food reviews and posts! Resting on a king-sized bed of fragrant, colourful medium-grain rice is a rack of goat ribs, sweating its juices for the rice to absorb. Its light sheen of lamb fat on the rice, in addition to turmeric and other aromatic spices, makes the rice almost as addicting as the meat itself. Each bite is juicy and tender, especially indulgent if you get a bite of meat and fat that perfumes the alluring goat aroma I love. The distinct char also adds a delicious depth of flavour, where along with the lettuce salad and veggies, keep each bite as exciting as the last.

Great place for authentic Somali and East African cuisine. The service was fast and friendly, and the atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming. I ordered the beef steak with Chapati. It was served with lentil soup, salad and juice. The quality and quantity of food you get is reasonable. The milk tea is fantastic as well. Highly recommended you try Waanag if you’re in Toronto!

My experience at Wanaag was outstanding, to say the least. The food is absolutely delicious and the environment is also welcoming. I ordered the chicken suqaar and everything about the dish was amazing, not to mention the huge portion size. The chicken along with the rice and veggies were wonderfully seasoned and I even had leftovers to take home and enjoy. The lentil soup that came with the meal was also very enjoyable. In addition to that I got to try the milk cake which was excellent! If you haven’t tried Somali cuisine or East African food in general, I would definitely recommend Wanaag. Honestly even if you’re just in the area and looking for a place to eat I’d still highly recommend it.

Two of us got one beef and rice dish with samosas and caramel cake and still had leftovers. Very generous portions with incredible flavour! FYI, takeout menu appears to be a little different than dine-in.

We come here once a week! The portion sizes are generous – you get great value for your money. The highlight of the meal was the perfectly seasoned, melt-in-your-mouth meat that was so tender! The dish is incredibly satisfying! On top of the delicious food, the staff was warm and welcoming, making sure we felt right at home throughout the entire visit. If you're looking for authentic Somali cuisine with amazing portions and top-notch service, this place is a must-visit!
