知味煲仔饭 (Unionville) Good Taste Casserole Rice

Decent claypot rice place. Affordable and well rounded meal as their rice comes with a double boiled soup and a small plate of veggies. I found the bottom of the rice to be quite oily and did not crust up enough. The spareribs are cut up into small pieces so be wary of bone shards. The cured meats are pretty good quality and the beef brisket is cooked perfectly.

Very good claypot rice. The soups are not delivious but are very nutritious. Claypot rice takes at least 20 minutes to cook - I heard the next table order ahead via phone and got their meals quicker. The service is so bad it is laughable. Just enjoy the food and don't expect the staff to smile or do anything basically.

For many years, this is one must go place for dinner. When most of the meal set out there are charging you 15+ for a simple meal, they keep the price down low for many years. (Rice pot with a soup or a soft drink) The quality of food I would say is one of the best in Toronto area. The rice was cooked to perfection and Chinese sausage and meat are flavorful. The fish was a surprise for me. Usually I don't order the fish meat in this type of cooking, since they are usually overly salty. But this one they may just lightly salted and dry in a short time which maintaining the softness of the meat and eliminated the fishy smell. Highly recommended.

The casserole rice and toppings are good!! Soup is a surprise lol of not good hahaha Staff got style don' t piss them off but they mean good Shop is got good chinese feel !!

Strong flavors but there was something missing for the casserole. Could have used a side chili crisp or a sauce that could have elevated it. What i will say is that the cheung fun was one of the best I have ever had, and it is one of my favorite dishes, so I have eaten this allot. Had that homemade simple but so tasteful. Highly recomend.

One of my go-to places for authentic claypot rice. Good taste, and good portion for an affordable price. They have a variety of different claypot rice with some rice noodle roll. I recommend the peanut rice noodle roll. Make sure to let the rice rest to get a nice crispy bottom layer of rice. The place is on the smaller side, so it can get quite cramped when fully packed.

This was my first visit to 知味煲仔飯. There aren't very many places to choose from for a good selection of 煲仔飯. I found the portion sizes good. I liked that the rice is crispy on the bottom but not stuck to the claypot like a lot of other places. The salted fish was very tasty. I wish the Four Treasure Rice (四寶飯) had just a bit more toppings on it. Overall, I enjoyed my meal there.

This is a small local family business! They are around at least 10 years if not longer. Finally come here on weeknights and what a surprise. They are in business for these many years for a very good reason. Good food and good service. They are popular for their clay pot rice Rice is cooked directly on a small clay pot and you can select different combinations of meats on it. Clay pot rice came with a special sauce (Soy sauce based) and it is really good. It also comes with soups and vegetables on the side. Parking is not bad on weekdays.
