Previously 'Alligator Pear' and changed the name August 1st, 2023. Authentic Japanese and Korean food turned into rice bowls also sandwiches for take out. Homemade frozen meals & soups & desserts. Homemade kimchi available only at Umami Express.

Come here all the time to order their Japanese Beef Curry, probably the best curry I’ve had in all of St. Catharines. Their kimchi is also delicious, highly recommend! The place is also decorated so nicely, and they sell a variety of Korean and Japanese treats and drinks.

We didn't expect to find such amazing Japanese food in St. Catharines, but will definitely be back whenever we visit. We're especially looking forward to trying some of the Korean dishes next. We dined in for lunch and had a great time exploring the goods for sale while we waited a short time for our meal. The playlist was great, all the decorations were cute, and there is a lot of take-home stuff we'd consider buying if we lived in town. The Japanese curry was delicious and it was great to find slices of carrot and potato mixed in with the meat. If you're not a fan of curry, but haven't tried Japanese curry, give it a chance, it's great. The Kimchi mayo guidon had a generous portion of meat and the sauce was great. It's not your typical mayo and works well with the meat in the dish. The service was fantastic and the prices were amazing considering the taste and portion size.

Amazing atmosphere, so much choices for food. No kastu but hopefully, they do a special for it cause their ramen special (pork so was tender.... 🤤) was absolutely delicious. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TRY THIS SPOT IF YOUR A FOODIE.

very tasty and clean. all foods are very fresh. also their pastries are amazing! not too sweet and satisfying texture. everyone should try dojima roll it's unlike anywhere else.

really happy to have checked this place out!! the atmosphere was so nice and we loved the decor. we tried the teriyaki chicken mayo and the bulgogi with kimchi + mayo and both were super yummy!! loved the corner with a bunch of Asian groceries and frozen meals, can’t wait to try those out :) the owner of the place was also very friendly too! can’t wait to come again 😋💗

Craving a quick and tasty lunch? Look no further than Umami Express in St. Catharines! Their delicious rice bowls, like the Gyu Don (beef) or Oyako Don (chicken), are bursting with flavor and come at a fair price. Shabu Shabu Don is the Winner and their Chef's most recommended dish. Really cool spot. Very versatile dishes with Korean & Japanese influence. Kimchi by far is a must have so delicious. Very reasonable prices and fresh & hot. Will visit again !
