To each their own the vibe could be unpleasant to some as it's noisy and seemingly chaotic, but it's this exact Canto vibe that makes this restaurant truly authentic. We ordered razor clam (among many off-menu but seasonal items), free-range chicken and other dishes and NONE disappointed. This restaurant is known for its "wok hei", seafood and the variety selection, at a very reasonable price. Service wise, well, if you speak perfect Canto and order efficiently they wouldn't give you hard time but otherwise no guarantees. I had seen many negative reviews on waitress's attitude issues but that's just typical "HK cafe style" culture; if you know you know. All in all 10/10.

I went on Wednesday and the restaurant is packed from 6 to 8 pm and there are 20 people waiting for the table. Food is above average, 3.5 stars. The sweet and sour pork is top 5 ssp in toronto. The pork is crunchy, and the sweet and sour sources are lightly coded on it. I hate it when ssp is heavily drenched in sources. The deep fried pig intestine is very good as well. The fried ribs are amazing as well. You need to eat it with the deep fried garlic with the ribs. Very yummy. The chicken is ok, not top-notch. We are lucky to have fresh fish that day. Fresh! The steam tofu with shrimp is good as well. For all the dishes, 8 people and $30 each. This restaurant offers great value.

Food was a bit below average in my opinion.. maybe worth 3 stars if the price was lower. Order the Beef Noodle Stir Fry.. dish was lacking wok hay.. The fried oysters were good. Batter was very crispy. The stir fry clams were below average.. the clams were fresh.. but still not much taste, a few were dead.. (my friend who recommended this place who goes often also said the clams are hit or miss) The dried citrus peel ribs would have tasted good IF the name wasn’t dried citrus peel ribs.. cause there wasn’t any dried citrus peel taste whatsoever.. they did charge a premium for the dish. Maybe worth a pass (3 stars) IF the bill was $90 instead of $121 before tip (our table of 2) We also did not get a free soup with our dinner which is pretty standard for these places.. LOL, my friend who recommended this place says they always get that free appetizer soup. Gotta deduct some service points for this.

The chicken was tough and chewy, it also was lacking in flavour. Probably the worst steamed chicken I’ve had. There was a lot of blood too, I’m used to eating this in HKG with a bit of pink and blood but this was too much. The beef with Maggie was excellent and probably the only dish which was good from the 4 items we ordered. There were more vegetables than beef but it was flavourful so it was good overall. The seafood rice lacked so much flavour, it could very well have been regular fried rice without salt. Quite disappointing. The sweet potato tips with garlic barely tasted like anything too, also didn’t have enough garlic to give it any flavour. It was a lot though, so at least there was that redeeming factor. After the beef, the next best dish was the free sweet and warm tofu dessert. Service was divided - 2 servers were nice, the other 2 were curt and did not even acknowledge our request for more garlic ginger spring onion sauce for the chicken. They just looked and grunted and left, never to return with anything. We had to ask 4x to get more ginger sauce which we had to use on the ginger and on the rice to give the 2 dishes some flavour. We probably ordered the wrong items but 1 good dish out of 4 dishes isn’t a good average. I rarely give low scores but all 3 of us weren’t too happy about the lack of flavour. Not sure I would return, maybe to try something else but I wouldn’t be in a hurry.

Tried this place after some recommendations. We got the half chicken, the steamed eel and a seafood fried rice. Everything was quite good. The fried rice had a really good rice base. The chicken was fresh tasting and the eel was steamed well. The eel was a little too strong on the black bean for me though. Service was fast. They are quite busy so make sure to place a reservation before going! They gave us a complimentary tofu desert at the end.

First time at Top Choice Restaurant. This restaurant has been situated at the corner of the New Kennedy Plaza for years, which I guess is a testament to their longevity They seem to be always super busy and typically require rsvp and it's very hard to get walk in table Overall decor is a tad quirky with a mismatch of fishing stuff on one part, and then a different room with hockey memorabilia lol. Food is good but pricey, their main attraction seems to be deep fried pig intestine, which I must say is good. I also enjoyed their fried oysters and their rich fortified broths (aka Lo Foh Tong). The chicken was ok but a tad chewy. The veggies are not worth it in my opinion, $30 after tax and tip for a plate of Tong Choy Vegetable is absurd. I guess as long as you know what you want and are discerning with your choices I guess they're a good restaurant.

Food is good. But chicken is over rated. Dong kee is a much better chicken option. The sweet and sour pork and stir fry fish is very good. Service is eh. But good food makes up for it. Even if some is a hit or miss.
