Was looking for a good spot for ramen and the search is over. Everything from the environment, to the staff, to the food was everything I had hoped for and more. I ordered the garlic oil tonkotsu that had some deep fried pork gyoza on the side from the lunch special, along with the Shikiwasa lemonade. All delicious. Service was quick, and the space is great for solo dining as well, and the owner greets you like an old friend.

Follow @bredgyeats for more food reviews and posts! A unique Italian fusion between a Japanese tonkotsu broth with basil pesto that pairs together surprisingly well, where the basil adds a fragrant, earthy balance to the rich pork bone sauce. The noodles are cooked al dente for a satisfying chewy texture that clings onto the broth nicely and topped with bacon, french fries, basil, brussels sprouts and grated cheese.

I stopped by Tondou Ramen to catch up with friends after a solid recommendation from one of them, who promised it was worth the travel. Located on the corner of College St., the place offers both indoor and outdoor seating, making it versatile and welcoming for both small and larger groups. Inside, it’s cozy but still spacious enough to handle a crowd. Service was friendly and attentive, adding to the good vibes. I went for the Tonkotsu Special, and let me just say—it really lived up to the hype! The ramen noodles were thin and easy to slurp, perfectly matched by a rich, savoury broth that had incredible depth. The highlight was definitely the pork; they served up a generous six slices that melted in your mouth, a rarity compared to other ramen spots. Topped off with a soft-boiled egg, the bowl felt like it could have been an upgrade but was the real deal. Paired with a cold house sake, each bite and sip was smooth and satisfying. All in all, Tondou Ramen is a top-notch spot for ramen lovers. Highly recommended!

We had the chance to eat at Tondou Ramen on their outdoor patio, and it felt like we were back in Japan. The atmosphere was so authentic and relaxing. The tonkotsu ramen I tried was incredible—the broth was rich, the noodles perfectly cooked, and the pork tender. It might just be the best ramen I’ve had in Toronto so far. The portion sizes were generous, and the service was excellent. If you’re looking for a genuine ramen experience with a touch of Japanese ambiance, this restaurant is a must-visit!

I was excited to try this spot, hoping to relive the ramen I once had at the Ramen Museum in Japan. While I expected more dishes representing Okinawa, I was a bit disappointed by the limited selection. However, the Okinawa Soba I ordered was pleasantly similar to what I had in the past. Though the broth and toppings weren’t exactly the same as the Ramen Museum’s offerings, the combination of bonito and pork broth set it apart from other places in Toronto. The thick, chewy noodles were also satisfying and added to the authenticity. What really surprised me, though, were the chashu and kamaboko (fish cake) toppings. Despite not advertising any fancy sous-vide techniques, the toppings were incredibly tender and mildly flavorful, delivering a subtle yet impressive experience. I hope this restaurant continues to showcase its unique qualities for a long time. And honestly, with flavors like these, maybe they should advertise them a bit more boldly!

I can't believe how incredible the experience of eating at Tondou turned out to be! This place absolutely pulsates with authenticity class and the food is to die for. From the charming and engaging wait staff to the decore, you feel transported to another place entirely. I tried the Okinawan Soba which was a culinary delight and I can't wait to come back and try their Tonkotsu Ramen.

Very cool ramen. Gives vibes of the oldschool ramen joints in Tokyo. Their patio area is worth waiting a bit to enjoy a bowl of noodles outside underneath the red lanterns. Also very convenient as you can order and pay both within the app. They have cold ramen on the menu, which is amazing in the summer heat. Their alcohol free mojito was also delicious and so refreshing.

If you go in the summer they have a surprisingly cool and shaded patio. The Chicken Karaage was the best I’ve had. Very moist and not overly deep fried. The broth was very rich and well-flavoured. I ordered the Garlic Oil Ramen. My only criticism was that it was a bit over-salted. But the service was unmatched!
