My friend told me the chef used to work for Jinling restaurant in China. So perhaps the best Nanjing cuisine in North America? Plus they manage Shanghai cuisine just as well. The Xiaolongbao and dim sums are cheap, while the more formal courses on the menu can get very pricey. I mostly visit during off-peak so haven’t experienced any service issues.

Gross fish, overpriced, small portion We visited in a weekday night and ordered 7 dishes. Sweet and Sour Boneless Fish - disappointing and disgusting, the fishy smell is so strong that even the rich sweet and sour sauce could not cover it, it makes me sick after the first bite Shanghai Stir-fried Rice Cakes - tasty and authentic but the portion is unexpectedly small, you can get double size for the same price in congee queen or any other Shanghai restaurants Sweet and Sour Ribs, Salted Pork in Jelly - taste good but small portion Xiao long bao, Pan fried pork bun, Fried red bean paste ball - decent portion and average Scallion Oil Noodles - below average There is only 1 server in the whole restaurant so you cant expect services there, though the server is friendly and polite. Definitely will not visit again and not recommended

For the prices of each dish. The portions are extremely small. This is compared to congee Wong or queen which serves similar items for the same price. I was definitely expecting larger plates especially with a family of 5. We ordered 6 dishes and food inhaled everything as the servings were so small.

So I kind of have mixed feelings about this place. There is 1 server and she’s just the sweetest lady. I’d go just to support her :) she’s a 1 lady show though recently they got a robot to help. The food - I’d say stick to the Shanghai dim sums, like xiao long bao, pan fried dumplings, hot and sour soup, Shanghai noodles. I decided to veer to the other side of the menu this time and the food was ok. I guess it’s true when they say ‘stick to what you know’. I’d be back, but for what I usually get :)

The food is extremely tasty here, you won't be disappointed taste or authenticity wise. All the other reviews are correct though, what this restaurant lacks is service and good value, which cannot be totally offset by the delicious food. The prices are reasonable until you see the portion of food you're paying for - they're really small. I also don't believe the prices online are up to date. We ordered the Salted Pork & Bean Curd Soup, Braised Minced Pork Meatballs with Greens, Yang Zhou Sweet & Sour Ribs and Braised Pork with Preserved Vegetables. Everything was delicious and I would 100% recommend. As mentioned, the portions are small, especially for the meatballs (which only came with 2). The Sweet & Sour Ribs were a decent size. The service was also quite bad, but I didn't expect 5 star service. There was only one lady working all parts of the restaurant when we sat down, and the restaurant was actually quite busy for a Tuesday. We did get another waiter as the meal went by which made it better, but we had to constantly go to the front to ask for a menu, water, etc. Overall I will be back because my father, who is from Shanghai, really enjoyed the taste of all the dishes and we have been unable to find anything comparable in recent years. But I do hope they improve their service and consider making prices more reasonable. We paid around $110 including tax and tip for the 3 dishes, small soup, and 4 bowls of white rice.

They have a variety of choices on the menu. Very authentic Shanghai food. Noodles are good. There is a list of food items that they have awarded prizes for. It's really tasty but the 小籠包is quite small and with 5 pieces not even 6. The sticky rice 栥飯is good and fresh. The restaurant is not busy on weekdays or week nights. They made the dessert when we order it. $13.99 for 4 pieces. It's these best one that I have ever had. See photo. But the server said weekend is very busy and recommend to reserve a table. I will definitely go back to try other awarded items. Some items are not cheap but worth to try and the portion is reasonable.

Authentic and traditional Shanghai cuisine in Toronto. This is a small restaurant and they cook variety of dishes from appetizers, entrees to desserts. Tonight we are a la carte for 8 of us for family gathering. They actually have value set menu that I would like to try again for a smaller family group.

Best authentic Shanghai restaurant food is amazing and the owner is such a sweetheart. So many dishes to choose but my go to would be Shanghai rice Came, Peking duck, broccoli with egg white and fish and of course soup dumpling and pork.
