The Zen Hakka Chinese & Thai Stouffville (HALAL)

Tried this restaurant for the first time today. The owner/chef was a lovely women who was patient with me when trying to choose some gluten free dishes to try. Got some lovely lemon chicken (non breaded), beef pad Thai, and a wonderful warm Hakka soup. We had enough for lunch and dinner! We will for sure be back again! Thank you!

We have ordered multiple times in the past year and a half from The Zen. We have ordered multiple dishes (Manchurian Fried Rice, Chili Chicken, Green Curry, Pad Thai, Basil Chicken, Mango Chicken, spring rolls, shrimp chips etc to name a few). Everytime we ordered its been minimum $100 spend. Tonight we ordered a few dishes one again this place failed. The food is bland, and that's putting it gently. Absolutely no flavour. I ordered the honey garlic chicken it looks like they poured ALL sauce from a jar and warmed it up! It was unappealing and tasted like jar sauce. I wouldn't recommend this place for hakka or Thai food. Make the short drive to Markham/Middlefield and finch for good thai/hakka food. We have given it multiple tries and everytime we have to throw out the food, it lacks flavour.

I love this place for both dine in & take out. Their portions are fantastic, and I usually get a second meal out of my Pad Thai! Their service is efficent and friendly, and they will remember you, which is always so lovely. I definitely recommend The Zen

Very clean place and delicious fresh food! We tired ginger beef, Bombay chicken and spicy pepper calamari. All the dishes were really good. Must try!

We ordered the Chicken Pakora (10 pieces), Chilli Chicken, Lemon Chicken (recommended by staff), and 2 orders of rice (combined into 1 large bowl). Everything was sooo delicious and the staff are super friendly! Our fave was definitely the Chicken Pakora - it was very moist inside & paired well with the sauce! We will definitely be back. Next time, we may order take-out to take advantage of the 10% discount for cash pick-up!

Great place, clean, good service and great quantity of food per each dish. 4 stars because the hot and sour soup was actually hot and sweet. And we weren't told that there was a 15% gratuity included in the bill regardless of the number of people (we were 3). Were about to give a cash tip but after seeing the bill we didn't.

Outstanding Food! We ordered soup (Hot & Sour veg), Spring Rolls, Chicken Won Tons and 6 main dishes so we would have leftovers to take home. All items were fresh, flavourful and in very large proportions. The service was excellent and prices very reasonable for the generous amounts of meat in the dishes. We will definitely be back for more!

Very glad that an Asian restaurant opened in Stouffville and offers an extreme variety of Thai and Asian food. I also really like how each dish is customizable with its protein options (chicken, beef, shrimp or none, to make it vegetarian). The dishes aren't overly salty or oily, which are great benefits. The portion size is generous. I ordered the family meal for 5 people plus 1 extra noodle dish on the side and it came to a total of $102.80 after tax. The downside to this place is that the prices are not available online nor can you order online with them. I'm intrigued to try other dishes.
