I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Spicy Ethiopian and it was an absolutely delightful experience. From the moment we walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere made me feel right at home. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. The food was outstanding! Every dish was bursting with flavor, and the injera was perfectly soft and tangy, a wonderful complement to the rich, savory stews. The combination of spices in the cha cha tibs was incredible, and the vegetarian options like the veggie sampler were just as flavorful and satisfying. It’s clear that a lot of love and care goes into every plate. We ended off with a nice cup of buna (coffee) and chai (tea). Highly recommend it for anyone looking to explore Ethiopian cuisine or simply enjoy a great meal in a welcoming atmosphere!

The food was delicious and the owner was very very passionate about sharing Ethiopian food with us. We came to celebrate a friend’s birthday, the staff were the sweetest people, and they even helped surprise our friend with a cake. We accidentally stayed beyond their closing time, but they were super accommodating and patient with us. We had such a great time there, 10/10 service and food, would go back!!!

The best vegan Ethiopian dish I’ve ever had! I 100% recommend for vegans and non vegans, this place has plenty of options for everyone! 10/10! Gelila is the best! Customer service is always amazing! Try the Ethiopian coffee with the ceremony!

A labor of love, The Spicy Ethiopian 🇪🇹 was a beautiful experience. From the food to the hospitality to the interior design, everything here was extraordinary. We ordered one each of the vegan and meat platters. Our favorites were the spicy beef & lamb stew. Special shout out to the owner, Lily, who is an absolute joy 🌼 Can't wait to be back!

This is so far the best Ethiopian restaurant located in downtown! Food was amazing, the presentation was very unique and the interior is traditionally ambient with a cozy setting! The owner Gelila super friendly and welcoming, that we didn’t even feel like leaving! Definitely recommend this place! Thank you for your amazing service!

For wanting to have some Ethiopian food for a long time we decided to drive over an hour to try "The Spicy Ethiopian". This cozy and quaint place impressed us from the word GO! The ambience, the hospitality and the food raced against each other to be the better one, and all three were winners 😁. The chef/owner Lily, her husband Andrew and the staff went over and beyond to give us a delightful experience. Icing on the cake was the cake that Lily arranged for me to celebrate my birthday! This place is a must go for a delightful gastronomical experience. Thank you "The Spicy Ethiopian".

The best way to describe this restaurant is that it’s a labour of love, where passion fuels the cooking - and it shows. The food is absolutely filled with flavours and as you dine on the meals you notice new flavours with each passing minute. We ordered the platters and they were absolutely delicious & hearty, and put our taste buds on an incredible ride. If you want good Ethiopian food that stands out in this city then you have to come here. Food is fantastic, service is STELLAR, and the overall environment is warm, cozy and intimate which can be perfect for dinner for any special occasion! Cannot recommend this place enough!

The first thing you notice when you step in is that the place is gorgeous. The natural wood tables and chairs, the decor, everything. You think, well it's pretty, but is the food any good? And then dish after dish I was blown away. Easily some of the best Ethiopian food I've had in Toronto! I'm usually a fan of the vegetable platters (which are fantastic here), but honestly the meat platter, and in particular the beef tibs shocked me how good they were. On top of that the owner/chef and her daughter were extremely kind and thoughtful. Couldn't have asked for a better night out for Ethiopian food. Will definitely be coming back again, I already have my dad asking to come by and join next time!
