This is a great spot. The staff are so friendly and kind. Excellent cod and chips, the gravy is excellent and the coleslaw and tarter sauce is made in house and is excellent. Atmosphere is a really cool East coast feel inside. Highly reconnected if your in the area.

Review My wife and I have been wanting to visit the Puffin for some time, after attending Sunday night's Jig Dinner event I can honestly say it was well worth the wait. The restaurant is small, but it also works because of the intimate setting and is comfortable. Parking Though there is not a lot of spots available, there is enough if you arrive early, the staff was supportive in helping us find a spot, so despite what some other reviewers might say, the parking is adequate. Seating We both found the seating comfortable and spacious. The seats are comfortable which is important especially when you start to get invested in the entertainment that was provided during the dinner. Cleanliness This might be where my only complaint will be, the restaurant itself is clean, it smells fresh and has a very homey feeling which is very refreshing. I found that while waiting for dinner it was nice to look at some of the pictures and novelties that are the Newfoundland culture. What I didn’t like though was the state of the washroom. The toilet seat was broken and one of the nobs on the tap faucet was missing. Entertainment I cannot say enough positive things about how talented, sociable both John Prince and Donny Wood are. If you do not get caught up with the music, you need to check your pulse. I cannot remember the last time I had so much fun during a dinner engagement. Staff First let me say, from the moment we arrived until the time we left, the staff and owners were attentive to us, very friendly (including come out to our car to let us know they are opening the door for seating). You can tell this team works well together and they enjoy and is appreciative of the community that supports them. Food This is where the Puffin really shines, the portion they serve you is well above average, you will not leave hungry, and the turkey, beef and vegetables are cooked to perfection. Leaving the restaurant, we felt full, and enjoyed every bite. Overall Definitely worth the trip, tasty food, good times, and an experience you will not want to forget. The team was on par, friendly and sociable. The entertainment was a five star experience and the food made you feel it was time for a trip to Newfoundland to enjoy the culture. Other than the facilities (which let me be clear is clean) I would rank this as one of the best experiences I have had in some time. I give this a strong 4.5/5

Absolutely amazing! The portion sizes are large and the staff are so friendly. We drive 45mins to eat here or get take out. I'm gluten free and the owner makes a GF batter for me and it's so delicious. My family eats the regular batter and they all say how it's not over powering and they can actually taste the fish meat. 100% worth the drive.

The clam chowder was amazing. Brings back memories of the East Coast visit. The fish and chips was very good. A Hidden gem

Went to The Puffin for lunch last week. What a lovely place. We had Cod & Fries, and it was delicious. Carmen was super nice, and we had a lovely chat about her shop and all the cute displays of Newfoundland. Highly recommend this restaurant, we drove up from Toronto, and it was well worth it.

THIS is the place for fish and chips. The fish is perfectly battered, really crispy and not oily at all. The chips complement the fish perfectly. The service is great as well. I don’t think anything in the city comes close to this and I have had them all. We will for sure become regulars here.

I've wanted to visit The Puffin for a while now but it always looked closed....turns out It's almost always open 😊 There was only Cod available the afternoon that we were there so at first I was disappointed but once we got our orders it was all good Gorgeous crispy fries, homemade gravy and truly excellent coleslaw It was a beautiful day so we ate out back at one of the picnic tables but there is indoor seating Friendly and accommodating service Intrigued by the Newfie Stuffing and Gravy, so I'll be visiting again
