The Kabob Guys

Passing through Toronto's Fashion District late on a summer Sunday evening, I needed food. The problem was, as the clock ticked towards 11:00pm, everything and everyone seemed to be closed. Except for The Kabob Guys (TKG) Afghan Grill on Spadina and Richmond West. Although it was near closing time, the staff mercifully took my take-out order for a TKG Signature Dinner of Chaplee kebab (چپلي کباب) - spicy ground beef patties, served with golden brown Basmati rice, salad, naan (Afghan bread), and sauces. While waiting for the food to be prepared, I was struck by the simple elegance of the bright wooden interior. Especially in the solitude of that late hour, it seemed to radiate an understated peace and lightness. And, I smiled seeing one of the sayings adorning the walls, "People who love Food are the Best People." I'll eat to that. The Chaplee dinner served up two abundant beef patties on a mound of rice. Hearty and filling, though with room for a bit more spice, this was real food and sustenance. Thank you TKG (The Kabob Guys) Afghan Grill. You were there for me when I was hungry - when no one else was.

I ordered the beef tikka wrap and it was just okay. The wrap was sparsely packed and this led to the salad and protein inside to shuffle around. Also, it didn't help that I got a layer of fat in my first bite. The overall taste was good, once I got through the first bite but I was left disappointed overall.

Most tender and juicy chicken kebabs ever!!! Wazir 2 kebabs with rice and salad for $18+tax. Such good quality food, good quantity at such a solid price. (Orange for size reference) Golden basmati rice, and chicken breast kebab which is marinated for 24hrs prior, then grilled on charcoal. Would definitely recommend. P.s. the $100 family platter is also a great deal!

I’m really disappointed with the BOGO chicken breast wrap deal. The wraps were HOLLOW—very little protein and almost no vegetables. There was no hot sauce on the side as advertised, and the small amount of chicken inside was ice cold, despite my order arriving on time. All wrapped up in a Dempsters white tortilla…If you offer late-night hours, the quality should still be up to standard. Unfortunately, this felt like a 'no-go' wrap deal.

Delicious authentic Afghan food in the heart of the city. Restaurant is very clean. Service is fast. Owner is easy to talk to and kind. The grand wazir plate offers very good value. Comes with one skewer of tandoori chicken and two skewers of beef kebab, rice, half bread, salad, and sauces. We also added two pieces of chaplee kebab with it. Food was delicious overall. A little on the milder side but perhaps thats intentional given the demographic being catered. Delicious nonetheless.

I came here on Sunday with my brother, we were looking for Middle Eastern food with patio option for dine in, when we arrived there the sun shade was closed but the person encharged just opened for us!!! Thanks a lot!! The food was amazing and fresh, a generous amount as well. We highly recommend this place!!

We tried the BOGO Chicken Qorma Poutine. The food was fresh and tasty. We liked the mild Qorma flavour which paired well with the fries. The quantity was quite fulfilling. The staff were also quite friendly.

Afghan Kebab Grill is a small establishment, more suited for take-out orders than dine-in. The staff members were friendly, which made for a pleasant atmosphere. The portion sizes were adequate, with each plate including a serving of salad, spicy rice, and bread as sides to kebabs. However, I found the kebab grills to be slightly overcooked, especially around the edges. The food was reasonably priced, the slight char on the kebabs was a bit off-putting for me.
