I just had a lunch special of mixed bbq and jerk chicken, rice and peas, coleslaw and added plantain for a bit extra. It tasted so good that I had to take the time to post about it. The chicken and rice were well seasoned, the coleslaw was fresh , plantain was perfect. I’ll definitely be going back to this place for lunch or dinner.

The jerk sandwich was nice (a bit spicy), big, and full of shredded meat (with 1 tiny bone). But too salty at times. I tried peanut punch for the first time and it tasted like a peanut butter milkshake. Edit: This time, the person making the sandwich was taking pieces off of a drumstick but still managed to give me bones and cartilage. I had 5. But the chicken wasn't salty. It was spicy though.

Wow! I have had food twice from this premises, which is located inside the Sheppard Centre (@Yonge) food court. The staff are great and food is fantastic! The oxtail dinner & rice and peas (large) and ackee & salt fish and festival (medium), portion sizes were very generous. Both of the dishes set me back $45.99 w/taxes and it was worth every cent. I live in the Mississauga and will be stopping by this premises to get my fix of great Caribbean food when I am in the area. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!

If I could give it 50 starts I would. The food is absolutely amazing. By far the best place in all of YorkU and probably York entirely. The jerk chicken is closest I have ever had to the one in Jamaica. The chicken js flavoured up to the max. The juiciest and most tender chicken ever. The rice and peas are amazing and they pour some jerk oil onto it which makes it even better. The most authentic carribean food in probably the whole city. The lunch specials are 3 pieces of chicken with plenty of rice that they stuff into this medium container that they smash in because they are so generous with the portions. The prices are very good considering the quality and quantity compared to the places surrounding it. The service was super quick and friendly. Overall the best pick for food and by far carribean food in all of the York Area. Absolutely outstanding, highly recommend.

Great food, and if you catch the lunch special, great prices. One of the better places to eat on or around campus. Chicken is juicy, flavourful, has the right amount of spice and flavour (although sometimes I’ve noticed spice levels are either really high or really low for no apparent reason). Staff are very prompt and friendly. Service is fast and they’ll work through massive lineups very quickly. Occasionally I feel that certain staff members are overly stingy, but it doesn’t appear to be consistent across the organization. Overall would definitely recommend.

The Islands Caribbean Restaurant inside York U's student centre is the best of the best in the area for West Indian food. I just had heir new jerk chicken sandwich and it is AMAZING. Definitely give that a try. I've had almost everything else on the menu, and can vouch for this place with ease. Good job @TheIslandsYU!
