The Black Wolf Smokehouse

Visited from out of town during the holiday break just seeking a quick bite. The room was pretty empty and is decorated accordingly as a pub should be. There are enough food choices on the menu, all pub standards are available; we went for the wings and a burger. Wings were spot on and the burger was solid. Service was attentive and we left satisfied.

I've been here quite a few times over the past few years. The food is always great, the atmosphere is always lively, the staff is always friendly, and the prices are reasonable for the portions you get. I really like the Buffalo chicken wrap -- there's just a hint of spice to it, and the fries that come with it have just the perfect amount of crisp. Delicious!

Make sure you come hungry. The food is delicious and the portions are huge. We started with the Cajun calamari which was delicious and seasoned perfectly. Perfect size for 3 of us. We ordered the pulled pork dinner, Smoked Brisket dinner and the full rack BBq Pork Ribs. Ribs came with a huge plate of fries and smaller portions of coleslaw and baked beans. We chose beet salad, fries, corn bread and coleslaw for the dinner sides (2 per dinner) and everyone shared. Everything was delicious and the portions are huge but the star was the ribs. A half rack here is a full rack in most restaurants. The corn bread with the cinnamon butter was amazing. The pulled pork leans sweet so if you prefer savoury get the brisket which had just the right smoke and no sweet. The coleslaw had a hint of mustard with right about of acid and tang that paired perfect with sweet pulled pork to cut sweetness. The beet salad was superb. Loved the pickled onions and crumbled goat cheese. Just the right amount the salad dressing. Salad was gently coated but not a wet mess. Our server was lovely and served us promptly and checked in on us and brought a plenitude of take-out containers as our buffet of dinner was far too much. Large selection of draft beer and the Guinness was expertly poured. I am told the Shirley Temple was the best one yet. While an hour away from home it’s worth the drive and we will be back again….

Nice smokehouse which had a great patio. Food was good House bbq sauce was decent Chopped brisket was nice Staff was very friendly but they had one person running the place.

Not bad for BBQ in the area. The meat doesn't appear to be smoked though, lacking hint of flavour and the smoke ring. Wished traditional brisket was made instead of pulled. Fries were good and accompaniment were ok, with large servings. We've eaten here a handful of times , and the last two times during the Blues & Jazz Festival. It's a very busy and loud spot , the food service was quicker than expected, and drinks were made well and served quickly.

My first time here. The food is very good and you can tell there's a passionate chef. What I had didn't taste the freshest but was still very good. The restaurant has a really nice black and yellow theme throughout but has weird decor and wall decor that doesn't really make sense. Carpet in a restaurant? Not a good look. Its too bad because they're close to having a cool spot. The service was excellent.

We ordered the ribs & wings, pulled pork, and beef brisket to try a bit of everything. Everything came out excellent. Very tasty and loved the smokiness in the meats. Pulled pork had to be our favourite out of the three.

On a day trip to Alton Mills, we found ourselves looking for somewhere to eat. The photos, reviews and menu of this place drew us in, and we were not disappointed. I had some smoked wings and their Mac and cheese; my husband had a burger - it is what he always has and how he compares restaurants. We were both pleased with our meals! Also impressed with the service; they came by to check in but also allowed us to enjoy our meal together quietly. We have quite a few friends who love smoked meat, so we sent quite a photos to brag. If we find ourselves back in Ontario, we would absolutely eat here again!
