THE 5TH TASTE is located in Bathurst and Wilson area. We prepare our dishes to produce the natural Umamiうま味 sensation, which is considered the 5th taste, in addition to the 4 basic tastes of sweet, sour, salty, and bitter. The 5th taste makes foods savory, satisfying and mouthwatering . These are the key element of Japanese cuisine. At The 5th Taste, you’ll enjoy the finest Japanese cuisine made by our experienced chefs. Our chefs have spent years perfecting the craft of sushi making. All of our sushi is made to order on the spot using only the freshest and highest quality ingredients. We also offer brown rice as well as healthy vegetarian dishes.

Have eaten here 3 times this month, we live fairly nearby and never stopped in. The place is so beautiful, small spot but cozy and so well designed. Atmosphere is so great. But it’s the food - My job requires I spend time with jerks who have corporate credit cards. So I get to eat Sashimi across Canada and what I treasure most is CREATIVITY. Sure it’s rare to get a steady supply of the more rare fish (sustainably)… and they have it …but the plating and thoughtful presentation of the superior product has been nothing short of a delight. NO ONE does raw sweet shrimp ( at this price is the key thing, seriously it’s double for this downtown) and their Chirashi Don is underpriced. They have a very diverse menu, the table next to us didn’t have any sushi! But they had kids and there’s enough variety for a family. I’m currently finding meetings to hold here and literally in an Uber on the way there to meet my spouse. It’s our best favourite spot.

This is such a cute Japanese restaurant. highly recommend. I had a miso soup and golden dragon roll for lunch. Everything was delicious and freshly made. The server is very polite and brought water without even requesting it. You can place your order on the tablet they have at the table, very handy. And the atmosphere was very traditional and cozy. I will definitely come back

Food was delivered quickly and tasted fresh / delicious. Lady serving us was very respectful! Atmosphere was good for lunch time. Really enjoyed my experience and food! Prices were reasonable as well.

Loved this restaurant! It's cozy, cute, and very well decorated. The food was also fantastic! Honestly, it's one of the best sushi restaurants I've ever been to 😊.

A really cute spot nearby Yorkdale mall for affordable & yummy Japanese eats! Seating was cozy and there were high dividers for more intimate booths; and you use a tablet to put in your order - the menu is quite extensive. Everything tasted good! The spicy sushi rolls had a good kick, takoyaki was flavourful, miso was quite good, and the shrimp-veggie tempura was also super good (not salty at all!). Green tea was also great with a roasted flavor (not a generic green tea). Staff was very friendly. I would definitely return when I find myself in the area again.

Seems to be an authentic Japanese restaurant, with great tasting sushi. Portion sizes are average, and prices are on the higher side compared to other sushi restaurants. You likely won't be full from just eating 1 combo. This plaza does not have sufficient parking. One of the restaurant chefs double-parked his Mercedes in the aisle preventing people from leaving and parking. I will not return to this location due to difficulty parking.
