Taku Sushi & Ramen

My wife and I love sushi and thought we would give this place a try. We were greeted by friendly staff and seated in a private booth. Charming, but sparse, and we immediately noticed the chairs and parts of the table were sticky and grimey. Our server was friendly, but service was slow. We ordered a beer and some wine, but around the rim of my wife's wine glass was leftover lipstick. Oddly, our server basically disappeared. I drank my beer while my wife patiently waited...and waited. My wife also noticed leftover lipstick on my glass (I missed it without my reading glasses on...see last pic). After 20ish minutes we were fed up and waved her down to tell her we were leaving. We figured that if the glasses are in this condition, do we really want to eat raw fish here? If the service was this slow and inattentive just for a drink, how will the rest of the meal go? We have never walked out of a restaurant before, so it was quite awkward. The staff made it as uncomfortable as possible for us too as they all stared us down as we left. So, we never even got a chance to try the food, perhaps it's really good, we will never know as we will not be back.

The atmosphere and interior were really nice. We sat at one of the private tables, which felt cozy and comfortable. The restaurant filled up quickly shortly after we arrived for dinner. The food was delicious. I usually eat two small meals a day, and the portion size was just right for me, though it might not be enough for most people. I think the pricing is quite fair compared to Toronto, especially considering it’s located in the Niagara area. The staff and owner were kind and did their best to stay calm and friendly, even though the restaurant was super busy.

My husband and I love eating in Taku. We love the their ramen, and the katsudon with rice i think it’s good for 2 people if you order side dishes. I love their sushi. Their servers are all nice, never had a bad service.

While visiting Niagara fall 🇨🇦 I decided to get away from plastic restaurants and touristic areas and walked to the downtown to explore.. time was that I got hungry and looked for options, no many, but what a big surprise I found this little hidden treasure , decoration is very fine and provides an authentic Japanese atmosphere, service was good and kind, and I food really good. Great sushi restaurant! We came here for late lunch, we were greeted happily and was seated in the private booths. The private booth with a curtain makes our experience better, especially with a baby. My child didnt get distracted, so it was a bonus. They did have a high chair. Food wise, we ordered the tonkatsu ramen. It wasnt overly salty with the umami flavor, and the pork was tender. The eggs were just regularly soft boiled. Sushi was great, they tasted fresh with quality ingredients. Takoyaki was freshly made, it was hot and flavourful. It was seasoned well with the slight crunch outside and soft inside. I also enjoyed their japanese rice tea. Portion of the ramen were just right to get you full. The sushi was big enough that i had to take 2 bites. The tea i ordered came in a tea pot, which was enough for 1 person. Service was fast and staff were friendly. They checked up on us 3x, which was great. The place is clean, and not super busy at lunch. Price is pretty reasonable for the quality and portions of the food.

We came to a Niagara falls as a family on the weekend and were looking for a reasonably priced Asian place to eat. We were definitely not disappointed with Taku. We called ahead for a reservation and was greeted up by a very friendly staff. When we arrived, our table was already set up and we were about 10 minutes early. It was special ramen day and I think it was $3 off the ramen. We all each got a bowl and was moderately satisfied. We felt that the eggs could have been a bit more runny. Otherwise the soup base was decent, with reasonable layers and richness. Good size as well. The salmon sashimi that we ordered was a tad too salty with too much soy sauce. Overall a good experience and will return.

I visited this place with my family while visiting the Niagara Falls and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere was great and the staff were really friendly and attentive. The food was really good and we were pleasantly surprised. The sushi was good, tonkatsu was crunchy and tasty, the ramen was outstanding and really flavorful, and the salmon sashimi was super fresh. Overall, the food was great with reasonable portions and prices. Definitely would recommend if you’re in the area.

Amazing food, we enjoyed vegetarian ramen and an amazing assortment of rolls! There are lots of cool menu choices to tantalize the taste buds and food hits the table quickly. Service was solid, with a few delays for drink orders, but we had conversation going, so it mattered not...
