I had the pleasure of experiencing this theatrical omakase in Yorkville, and I can’t believe I’m just hearing about it now! From the moment you arrive, it feels like you’re in Japan with the hostess welcoming you in a kimono. We enjoyed the dinner omakase menu, with over 20 dishes beautifully prepared, along with some fun show elements, ending with music and a traditional tea ceremony. It was like being transported to another world. I went with my parents, and they had an amazing time! Highly recommend for anyone looking for something unique. PS: Let them know if you’re celebrating something special! All the staff were absolutely amazing! 💯💯💯

What a special experience. Okeya Kyujiro is brilliant! From the attentive service to the fresh omakase. If you’re thinking of spoiling someone or just simply knowing what it feels like to be in Japan this is your place. All of the food was incredibly fresh and most were Japanese sourced, cut fresh by the chef himself. All the staff were smiling and seemed genuinely happy to be there. We’re looking forward to coming back! Thank you!

Don't think - just go (if you can afford it). This was one of the most memorable dining experiences I've ever had. I came here for my birthday and the staff did everything to make me feel as special as possible. The service was probably my favorite part: attentive, hospitable and very polite. There were 25 courses in total and the flow was good. Sushi pieces dominated the menu, but they were spaced out by other dishes like chawanmushi and tempura. Although the sushi was fresh, it wasn't the best I tasted and the pieces were on the smaller side. Let's be clear: The food itself won't blow your mind but you're coming here for the full experience. And for that experience, Okeya Kyujiro delivers above and beyond. I was very impressed by how well put together everything was, from how immaculately clean they keep your plate to the pace of the courses being pumped out. The only thing I'd note is the "theatre" part of it. If you have a lot of omakase experience, you should tamper your expectations: the theatrical aspect isn't anything too special. It's just watching the chef work and cook in front of you, which is typical in such restaurants. There were some moments that were obviously played up (ex. Using a huge sashimi knife to cut the tamago) but other than the opening and closing, there isn't anything I'd consider a "performance". Doesn't take anything away from the experience, though.

A very unique omakase that really focuses on the theatrical aspect, making it a true dining experience. There were 25 courses that were a variety of nigiri sushi and hot dishes, allowing you to try many different flavours and some items that aren't so common. The staff was warm, knowledgeable, and explained what each item was, and it was a thrill to watch the team move like an efficient machine as they prepared the next items. I could see how some might find the food coming out a little fast-paced for their liking, but I personally had no issue with it and found it pretty consistent with other omakase experiences that I've tried. Certainly on the pricier side, but I found it well worth it for the experience.

The experience was pretty impressive! It’s very ceremonial like! Food was expectedly good, but nothing too amazing for a price of $350/each person. It’s a very small place. The main chef was polite. The girls are very well trained in terms of serving and performing tea ceremony.

If you are looking for more than just an omakase experience because they gives you a whole theatrical experience from start to finish. I celebrated my birthday there and I am very impressed with everything from service to food. They shows you the actual fish or ingredients they are using in each dish. Yes, their price is on the pricey side but I think it is worth the money. I was told their menu changes for different season…so I will come back to celebrate any special occasions. Thank you to chef Matsuda and team for giving me a memorable birthday.
