Food was excellent but service was not. Ambiance also wasn’t as nice as the Montreal location. Overall I’d give it 5 stars for the food but 2 for the service, hence the 3 star rating. I love Sushi Momo Montreal and decided to try the new Toronto location for my 30th birthday - to be honest I regret it, and wish I had chosen a nicer restaurant. The staff was very clearly untrained and the bad service put a damper on the whole night. The ambiance also wasn’t really nice - bare decor and way too squishy seating. First I’ll start with the food - it really is spectacular, explosions of flavor in every bite and you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. We tried the agedashi tofu (excellent, and not greasy at all unlike most fried tofu), mushroom arancini, and several of their sushi’s. All of it was 5 stars. It’s an explosion of flavor with every bite and my meat loving brother said it’s one of the best meals he’s had in Toronto, vegan or not. I love their use of truffle on several dishes. The vegan meats are so so flavorful and the vegan cheeses are extremely realistic. Crispy rice was delicious and perfectly crunchy. The drinks were good too - I enjoyed the Japanese rose ume liqueur though it was a little pricey for a very tiny 3oz pour. Their sparkling sake was also delicious, we got the cheapest one on the menu and it was incredible, like sake Prosecco and would get again! The ambiance needs help. We were 4 people and the booth really only sat two comfortably. My brother and dad were extremely squished and they don’t even have coat check so we were shoving our heavy winter jackets and scarves too. They need to rethink the seating and perhaps keep the booths for 2 people max. And I really don’t know of any upscale restaurant in Toronto that doesn’t hang coats - I guess this is not upscale. The decor left much to be desired. It was bare white walls not at all the darker and dressier ambiance of the Montreal location - felt like I was in a casual takeout spot like a pizzeria. Finally the service. It was honestly really bad. First of all we were running late from drinks before, called to push our reso to 30min later and the man on the phone said no, they were packed and fully booked. Only to find out online they were showing tons of availability at that time in every section (including indoor which is what we wanted)!! So I changed the reso online, we arrived to find the tiny restaurant empty so I really can’t fathom why the man lied on the phone - there were several large empty tables around us, only about 2 other indoor tables were occupied. He had the potential to ruin our night and for absolutely no reason… it’s baffling and vicious! Then our server just didn’t know anything. For every basic question she shrugged and said she didn’t know, including basic descriptions of the sake and liqueurs, whether the sake was served warm, etc. She wrongly told us the sake was by the glass and I had to correct her based on what was written on the menu. We didn’t even bother asking her anything about the food. They brought out 1 tiny ginger and wasabi bowl for 4 people with 7 orders of sushi - we had to keep asking for more and ration it. The waiter then abandoned us for the last 45min and we had to ask someone else for our check after waiting and searching for ~30min. Overall the experience with service, seating, and ambiance means I will likely only enjoy this restaurant’s food through takeout moving forward. I do hope they make some improvements to get it closer to parity with the Montreal location in this regard!

The service was excellent. Good food recommendations and they accommodated our big group. I loved my spicy habanero cocktail. The food presentation was on point. I really liked this experience and being able to enjoy it with my vegan family but don’t think it will become a repeat go-to sushi spot.

First time here - although I've been to the original location in Montreal before - but we'll definitely be back. Everything we ordered was incredible! A feast for the eyes and the taste buds.

I’m honestly blown away by this place! I had heard amazing things about their vegan sushi in Montreal, so when I found out they opened in Toronto, I had to check it out. Let me just say—it’s beyond incredible. I can’t even believe it’s vegan! The flavors, textures, and creativity in every dish are out of this world. Everything we tried was perfection, and we loved every single bite. If you’re in Toronto and love sushi, this place is an absolute game-changer.

This place is a gem. This plant based, vegan sushi place gives you more then it's promised. The display of the food makes you excited to eat, the different flavours of every dish explode in your mouth and everything has its unique taste. From appetizers over the main course to the dessert I was sure in heaven. The service was amazing and my birthday dinner even more special. Even the place seems by the first look very busy and buzzing, but as soon as you sit down, you have your own oasis and can enjoy your meal relaxing and winding down.

Amazing all plant based Japanese Sushi spot! I have never tasted sushi this delicious Ordered Omakase menu and every single dish they served was delicious! Atmosphere has a very hip bar vibe, not the classic Japanese ikigai one. Service was friendly, server attentive to your needs.

It was a pleasant surprise to find my Montreal fav spot open up a location here in my own backyard. It didn't disappoint for sure. Although the menu has slightly different options than Montreal, it is totally worth it. The flavors, textures, taste does not disappoint. Heaven for vegan food lovers. Make a reservation and hit the spot !! The service and the staff is great. Would love to see more of Montreal menu items added here. Will return.

I was thrilled to hear that Sushi Momo was opening a location in Toronto, having been a fan of their Montreal restaurant. This new spot doesn’t disappoint—it perfectly matches the high quality of the original. Each sushi dish we tried was a masterpiece, both visually and in terms of flavor. The use of unique ingredients and creative combinations really sets Sushi Momo apart; it’s truly my favorite sushi place, even though I enjoy traditional sushi as well. I highly recommend this restaurant and suggest ordering around three dishes per person. The Big M fotomaki was a standout, tasting like a delightful sushi take on a Big Mac. The Kamikaze roll quickly became one of our favorites, and we ended the meal with the Darling roll, which was refreshingly sweet and light. Overall, Sushi Momo in Toronto is a must-visit for any sushi lover. We’ll definitely be back!
