Kaji handpicks fish imported from Japan daily for the freshest and the best quality. Garnishes and condiments are exclusively imported from Japan. Although we do not serve "popular Japanese food" like "California roll" and "Teriyaki,” we will be pleased to introduce you to the authentic Japanese food culture. Our dine-in menu is chef Kaji's Sushi Omakase course ($160pp and up) only and there is no a la carte menu. To maintain the highest quality of food and service, only a limited number of seats are available each evening. Reservations are highly recommended in advance.

Excellent Japanese restaurant with great authentic food. I didn’t take much photos as I ate the food rather quickly as they came out. Service is always wonderful.

Had the full omakase set, fatty tuna pieces were amazing. Most pieces were great. The squid nigiri had a sticky texture that we didn't like. The tako (octopus) nirgiri was dry and too chewy. Was hoping to have some uni but it wasn't served that day Wagyu sukiyaki amazing. Head chef is funny.

My boyfriend and I have been to a couple of omakases in Toronto and the overall experience was under our expectation based on the reviews and quality presented. While most omakases red vinegar rice for their sushi, this one uses regular sushi rice. Some of the sushi/sashimi seems fresh, but they would leave an aftertaste. They were bringing us sets or trios of sushi and sashimi instead of the regular omakase one piece at the time. Lastly, the quality of the wasabi wasn’t great. More bitter than usual which killed the taste of some of the sushi. Staff were friendly and very accommodating.

Dining at Kaji Japanese Cuisine was an absolute culinary delight that left us in awe. The sushi was simply incredible, with each dish presented so beautifully that you could truly feel the years of dedication and passion that every team member brings to their craft. The space itself is quite unassuming, with limited seating, but this only adds to the charm. The staff-to-client ratio is something I’ve rarely seen, ensuring every guest receives an exceptional level of attention and care. We were fortunate to have a table this time, but we’ll definitely be back with the hope of experiencing the magic up close at the sushi bar. The entire staff was professional and focused, exuding a seriousness that spoke to their commitment to excellence. However, as the night drew to a close, we asked to take a photo with the main chef, who we suspect may also be the owner. This was the perfect finishing touch to our evening—just as we settled into position, he surprised us with a hilarious move that we are all still laughing about. It was a memorable moment that added a layer of warmth and personality to the experience. Kaji is an unforgettable experience in both flavor and ambiance, and we can’t wait to return! Highly recommended for anyone seeking authentic Japanese cuisine delivered with heart and artistry.

Chef was so personable and very funny. The atmosphere is not fussy and reminded me of eating in Japan. That said, the food was delicious. Great omakase experience

Wow, what an amazing meal. Intimate atmosphere, with some of the most fresh raw fish we have ever tasted. The presentation was a show on its own. Great place to celebrate a special occasion… however, the price is certainly a shocker. Once might be enough, and glad we experienced it, price just left me unable to give full 5 stars, rather 4.5 if I could!

I came here for my birthday dinner and I wasn't impressed. The service was very bland with no emotions from the waiter and very business like and robotic. The restaurant looked liked a well oiled machine with everyone working in and about each other without missing a beat. Where it truly disappoints is the feeling I get that I am in a fast food restaurant and the lack of impersonal service. It looked and felt like an assembly line of food, with everyone doing 10+ dishes of each item and then a waiter takes them out for the guests. Kaji only came out to do the sushi courses quickly and left. No interactions with his guests, the sushi was just shoveled one after another. The food was great but nothing outstanding compared to other authentic Japanese restaurants out there. Its sad to see that a once beloved and personal restaurant going this way.

I recently visited Sushi Kaji for my birthday with high expectations, but unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired. Here’s a breakdown of my visit: Ambiance and Service: ⭐⭐☆☆☆ From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt more like a fast food joint than an authentic sushi restaurant. The environment was rushed and impersonal, lacking the intimate, one-on-one chef experience that makes sushi dining special. Instead of a personalized touch, the whole process felt like a factory assembly line, with little attention to detail or customer interaction. Sushi Quality: ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ The sushi itself was decent, but not outstanding. While the ingredients seemed fresh, the preparation lacked the finesse and care you expect from a high-end sushi place. The pieces were quickly assembled and lacked the delicate artistry that should accompany such cuisine. Overall Experience: ⭐⭐☆☆☆ The overall experience at Sushi Kaji was underwhelming. The hurried service and impersonal atmosphere significantly detracted from the meal. Dining at a sushi restaurant should be an engaging and refined experience, but this felt more like grabbing a quick bite at a fast food outlet. There was no sense of connection with the chef or appreciation for the culinary craft, which was quite disappointing. In summary, Sushi Kaji did not live up to its reputation. If you’re looking for a quick sushi fix, it might suffice, but if you’re seeking an authentic and immersive sushi experience, this place falls short. Overall Rating: ⭐⭐☆☆☆ (2/5)
