I cannot say enough about this gem of a restaurant and its owner. We happened upon it without knowing anything about the food and what a great discovery! The owner was so warm and friendly. She runs the front of the house and her husband is the chef/co-owner. They are a great team along with the server. All our dishes were delicious. The scallion pancakes were thin and crispy, not greasy. The dry stir-fried green beans were perfectly cooked with a crisp bite and a nice not-too-spicy sauce. The shrimp har gow were the best I’ve had in a long time in Toronto — plump and juicy. The ginger pork had a crisp, light batter, not greasy, and just the right balance of a sour and gingery sauce. Then came the superb egg custard tarts…prefect pillowy, not-too-sweet, yummy goodness!!! Such a lovely meal. Oh, and don’t forget to get their chili oil.

The patio is nice and the people here are very friendly. However, I will have to be honest that although the chef is from China ,the food was below average and the price is a bit higher than the many other authentic Chinese places. A kind of disappointing. Should not have gone as I didn’t see any people there on a Saturday night while other places are quite busy. Should have guessed it😏

This is one of the few Chinese restaurants in Toronto where I felt the food was far from authentic. The peking style pork & wrap had a strange, stale taste in the meat, sauce and cucumbers. When we brought up our concerns about the ingredients to the staff, the owner came over and dismissively told us that this is just how they cook it there. It was such a regretful choice to dine at this restaurant, and I definitely won’t be returning.

I had a delightful lunch with perfectly cooked dumplings as an antipasto. The main course featured tender chicken seasoned with black pepper, adding just the right amount of spice. Refreshing non-alcoholic drinks complemented the meal nicely, and the dessert was simply delicious, providing a perfect ending to a well-balanced and satisfying lunch. Highly recommended!

Seriously delicious food here! Our service was a little slow and our mains food didn’t come out all at the same time, but definitely worth the wait and for a great price. The hainanese chicken is a must try, I also loved the shrimp wontons in chili. Looking forward to coming back soon!

We had a great experience for a weekend dinner! We sat outside on the patio which was perfect during the summer evening. They have daily specials which we took advantage of that night: choose any stir-fry dish including rice for $14. They also had very reasonably priced cocktails ($9-12) and happy hour specials. We ordered the crispy ginger pork and the Peking pork and beans curd - both were delicious and we loved the alternative take on Peking duck (using the bean curd sheets as pancake wrappers). Service was attentive and the waitstaff went out of their way to accommodate families and groups that required wheelchair access.

The service and food were all excellent. I tried butter beer for the first time, and I’ll definitely order it again next time. The egg tart was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The garlic eggplant is also highly recommended! Every dish was delicious, and I’ll be back to try more next time.

We visited there first time, the ambiance is so beautiful and first the owner greeted us and assisted towards our table and we were confused about what to eat and drink? And owner helped us describing the menu and also suggested me a drink which i liked a lot and the food is so yummy! It makes my mouth watery just by remembering and the server Ami is so poilte, attentive and friendly with a good communication skill and took care of us entire time, she is a great server and the most important thing is we got egg tarts for free, so delicious, hats off to owner, chef and Ami for outstanding food and service, i recommend to visit Soya to everyone and gonna visit there again to eat yummy foods and experience their outstanding service and hospitality.🤤
