Sodam Korean Restaurant

We found this place on Google Maps and really enjoyed it! We got the leaf pancakes which were as juicy as everyone says, and the beef bulgogi and glass noodle hot pot as well as seafood tofu hot pot. Everything was delicious including the side dishes! Would recommend and return as well!

It was my first time visiting to this newly opened restaurant, and I really enjoyed it. The side dishes and perilla leaves pancake were great starters (my fav). I loved the seafood soontofu soup—it was even better than Bukchangdong’s. I also tried the spicy pork rib kimchi jjim; the pork ribs were very tender and paired perfectly with the kimchi. However, it might feel a bit spicy if you’r spicy tolerance is not high much. Overall, both the food and service were excellent, and I’ll definitely be coming back to try more dishes!

What a gem! THE best Korean restaurant I've been to in a long while. I can confidently recommend this place to anyone, and I don't say that lightly. Everything was seasoned so well and tasted great. The ban-chans were excellent. There were 5: Napa kimchi, radish kimchi, small anchovy dish, potato salad, jap-chae. All were very good. I'm usually very unimpressed by the banchans at korean restaurants because they fall back on quality and taste, not here. On top of that, the server kept checking on us and offered to refill our banchans continuously, which is another thing you don't find these days. Many restaurants will charge you extra for banchan refills. For apps, we tried the perilla leaf pancakes and seafood pancake and both were great. The perilla leaf pancake was so juicy, and they didn't skimp out on the seafood for the pancake. The shrimp was cooked perfectly on it. I was most surprised by the gamjatang (not pictured). It came with 6 large pieces of bone with a LOT of meat. I've never had gamjatang with that much meat. And the soup was incredible. Usually, I find gamjatang soup at restaurants lacking in depth and richness. Here, the soup was nutty, rich, and savoury, and it didn't taste diluted either. The crushed perilla seeds are cherry on top. We also got to try peach flavour makgeoli for the first time, and they provide you with the proper dishware to drink makgeoli. It was a great complimentary drink before, during, and after the meal. Highly recommend. Price is reasonable, definitely better than other korean restaurants I've been to. Even if they were cheaper, I'd still choose to come here purely based on the taste. 5% discount if you pay with cash. This place is the real deal. I'm definitely going to come back with more family and friends! Please keep making good Korean food like this!

A very quaint little place with good Korean food. The perilla leaves pancakes were very good! The spice was tasteful without being overwhelming. Service was quick and very friendly- even gave us an apron to use to prevent the soup from staining a very nice blouse! I would come back to try their other dishes.

A place where you can have a pleasant meal. The food here is so authentic. Perilla leaves pancake in particular is juicy and has a nice volume. Pork rib kimchi jjim was exceptional. The restaurant is clean and staffs are super friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend. Also good for groups.

There’s a lot of Korean restaurants in the GTA, and have had my fair share from Bloor and Christie, to Yonge and Finch and Markham. But let me tell you, Sodam in Thornhill is a-mazing! Their banchans are delicious, really enjoyed their potato salad. We ordered the appetizer size of the bossam and it hit the spot with the sauces, perilla leaves and meat. We shared the beef bulgogi stew with rice and it was bursting with flavour!! We also tried something different, the perilla leaves pancake and it was really good. I’ve had shiso leaves in Japanese cuisine but a first for Korean and I like it! Highly recommend this spot for your next Korean craving!!

This is number 1 Korean restaurant in town. We ordered perilla leave pancake as an appetizer. It tasted very juicy and rich. For main we ordered bulgogi stew, chewy noodles, and pork bone stew. Everything was so good and also BanChan(side dish) was all good. The environment of the restaurant was very clean, neat and bright. The staff was kind.
