Small Pot Restaurant DT • 蟹蟹辣 市中心店 is a new restaurant in Toronto opened more than 6 months ago.

We are a compound restaurant specializing in Kunming snacks and fried crabs. It specializes in Kunming's traditional small pot rice noodles/cold rice noodles, signature spicy crab/custard crab, etc. Kunming small pot rice noodles are cooked in Yunnan's local copper pot, and only one bowl is cooked in one pot, ensuring freshness, smoothness and moistness; signature spicy crab, Saigon black pepper crab, and Singapore custard crab are all made with recipes from Singapore star chefs. We think our flavors are unique in Toronto. Welcome to visit us!

It's a lovely restaurant featuring traditional delicacies from Yunnan with good services and upscale vibe but more affordable prices! The store name is a little bit misleading for they offer way more than just crab meat! I think if you're into spicy and flavorful food like me, that's a newly opened place definitely worth exploration.

We came here for dinner, the services were extremely slow - after waiting for a good 30 min, they came to our table to CONFIRM our order. And we waited for another 20 min or so, we were still waiting for our food - and all we ordered was the cold rice noodles, which would have taken them less than 10 min to make. After complaining to them, our order finally came. The rice noodles tastes REALLY mediocre, definitely not worth the prices we pay. Would NOT recommend this place to anyone….

Took over 30 mins to get our main after getting our appetizers. The chicken broth has around 5 pieces of chicken in a relatively small pot (costs almost 30 dollar) The mushroom party only has one type of mushroom and plenty of peppers which is not as what the pic shows at all.

A delightful surprise! Every dish was absolutely delicious! My favorites were the spicy boiled fish and the tofu rice noodles. The stir-fried mushrooms and pork jowl were also amazing. Can’t wait to come back!

Taste of food is good, but the portion is quite small. They probably need to hire more people to serve customers

Impressed by this stylish Yunnan restaurant! Beautiful modern decor with a cozy, upscale feel. The food is fantastic - authentic flavors and quick service. Friendly staff helped us navigate the seats and menu. Perfect for both casual meals and special occasions. Easily one of the best Yunnan restaurants in the area. A must-try!

We ordered the Old Kunming Style Rice Noodle with sauce, which is a cold dish but it took them over 30 minutes to be served. Can’t image how that’s possible for a dish that doesn’t require much preparation. The Dali Style Fish with sichuan pepper is also disappointing. It tasted quite plain. The fish didn’t seem to be marinated properly, and the oil lacked depth of flavour. Sprinkling grounded sichuan pepper on top didn’t seem to enhance the taste as intended. Overall the experience is quite underwhelming, the long wait combined with mediocre dishes is not worth a second try even they’re sending out $20 coupons :/

Came here with a friend during lunch break, because we noticed that they're new, so we thought to give them a try. First, the good: the decor is pleasant enough, the restaurant is clean and warm, both servers were very friendly, especially the female server, all customers received a big glass of iced milk tea for free, which was delicious. Second, the bad: my friend received his soup, but it was very visibly different from the picture shown on their menu, but one could tell it's the same item, the noodles, vegetables, and meat were very visibly less than what was shown in the picture on their menu, although quite flavourful, but no salt was added into the soup at all, and we weren't provided with salt on the table. Third, the ugly: we scanned the QR code to see the menu, we also put our order in through our phones, the time shown 12:43 pm, but we didn't received our order until 1:17 pm, and that was my friend's order, mine didn't come until 1:25 pm, by the time we got our order, our lunch break was over, we didn't have time to eat, and during the waiting period, nobody came up to check on us, nobody went to check on our orders, they only did so when they're asked, and we were informed our orders would still need a while to prepare. From my observation, this restaurant didn't hire enough staff, not enough kitchen staff, not enough servers, only 2 people in the kitchen, and 2 servers in the front, this is a busy location, every table was taken, everyone's order was severely delayed. Note to the owner: we raised our concerns to the servers, they're both friendly and apologetic, we were offered a coupon, I eventually received my order in a to go container, albeit the appetizer was missing, but they didn't charge us for our lunch. We didn't take the coupon with us because we are not sure if we want to come back again, the servers were very apologetic and they felt guilty, but they shouldn't, because it seems like the owner isn't ready to open this establishment to public yet, and perhaps the owner should make sure this establishment is ready for business before actually opening it up to customers.
