I had Egusi soup with pepper beef, recommended by a friend. And meat pie. The soup is cery flavorful. This is my first time trying Nigerian food. The soup gives me full of surprises. The portion is a bit small though.

I have been a long time customer of SKCOOKKS. Food is delicious but very inconsistent in taste and serving quantity. The food is expensive for the quantity and I have only observed it get more expensive as the quantity reduces drastically.

I visited this restaurant yesterday with my man who wanted to introduce me to traditional Nigerian cuisine. I was excited to try the dishes and appreciated the effort they made with the food, which was delicious. However, there were several areas where our experience could have been better. First, the service was slow, as there was no indication of an assigned server at the front of the house, with a significant wait both to be seated and to place our order. Although we arrived before other patrons, our table was attended to later. We were informed that the POS system was down and were only accepting cash , which limited our payment options since no ATM was nearby. The food itself was a mixed experience. We ordered okra soup, egusi, eba, pounded yam and peppered chicken, and while the taste was good, we were informed that the chicken would include six pieces for $17, which seemed reasonable. When it arrived, there were only three small drumsticks, which felt overpriced and was a disappointment given what we expected. We offered this feedback in the provided survey, aiming to be honest without being rude, as we believed everything was good with the exception of the chicken, and wanted to help the restaurant improve. After looking at other reviews, I can see that the inconsistency in value for the price of food is clearly a trend. Lastly, an uncomfortable moment arose as we were leaving, where we overheard a racial comment regarding my presence. It may not have been directed at me specifically, but as the only ‘white’ skinned woman in the establishment (I’m Latina) it felt out of place and left us feeling unwelcome. Overall, while the food itself was partly enjoyable, the pricing, service, and atmosphere needs improvement. We won’t unfortunately be returning.

On my way to a friend’s housewarming today, I stopped by a Nigerian restaurant for the first time and tried Jollof rice with chicken—it was absolutely delicious! The chicken drumstick was grilled and topped with sauce, perfectly spicy, tender, and had a nice bite to it. Big compliments to Chef Dee! Thanks to the kind server, Evidence, I also got to try a variety of Nigerian drinks. I’m so grateful and can’t wait to try more dishes next time. I’m a bit jealous of my friends who live nearby!

It’s my first time in Canada and I found this restaurant on google. I ordered for smoky Jollof, peppered gizzard, Egusi and pounded yam . The food was very delicious and the customer care here is top notch. Thank you Chef Dee for my amazing experience.

It was my first time trying Nigerian cuisine and I couldn’t have been more impressed, the food was chefs kiss. The only critique I have is that for the amount you pay, the portions are too little. We tried jollof rice, Asun and moi moi. Everything was flavourful and not too salty. Right when we walked in, we were greeted by Peace who provided exceptional customer service, served with a huge smile on her face and very knowledgeable about the menu. Atmosphere felt very home-y and they were playing Afro beats which I also enjoyed. Overall a great experience and will be coming back again next time

Review of SK Cooks: My recent experiences at SK Cooks have left a bitter taste in my mouth, quite literally. I'll cut to the chase - this restaurant is a prime example of what happens when operational inefficiencies and lack of hygiene collide. Let's start with the wait times. If you're told it'll take 30 minutes, brace yourself for at least double that. On multiple occasions, I've found myself waiting well over an hour and a half for my food, despite optimistic estimates from the staff. To add insult to injury, there's a glaring inconsistency in their phone ordering policy. I've been told both that they don't accept orders over the phone and, paradoxically, had my order taken over the phone only to arrive at the restaurant and find nothing prepared, accompanied by the rudeness of a certain "big guy" who seemed more interested in enforcing rules than resolving the issue. Then there's the matter of food quality and hygiene. Picture this: after enduring an agonizing two-hour wait for my meal, I eagerly dig into my soup, only to discover an unwelcome garnish of hair. After a justified complaint, I received an apology and a promise of a replacement. However, upon returning the next day, I was met with yet another wait, this time nearly an hour. As I waited, I couldn't help but observe the kitchen's inner workings, and what I saw was downright appalling. Bare hands handling everything from meat to money without a second thought for hygiene. It's safe to say, what I witnessed would make anyone think twice about dining here. The final straw came with the replacement soup - not only did it arrive late, but it also came with an unexpected and inedible addition of plastic. Despite my efforts to address this issue with management, I've been met with silence. It seems the restaurant's disregard for customer satisfaction knows no bounds. In conclusion, SK Cooks may serve food, but what they lack in efficiency and hygiene, they more than make up for in disappointment. Save yourself the trouble and find a dining establishment that values its customers' time and well-being.
