Review for Silent H Restaurant, Toronto We had the pleasure of dining at Silent H in Toronto for New Year’s Eve, and the experience was absolutely delightful. From the moment we arrived, the service stood out—the host was incredibly polite and made us feel welcomed immediately. The drinks were well-crafted and enjoyable, perfectly complementing the festive evening. The food was not only delicious but also reasonably priced, which added great value to the experience. Overall, Silent H delivered a very pleasant and memorable dining experience to kick off the New Year. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for excellent service, tasty food, and a warm atmosphere!

I had high hopes for this place given all the hype, but unfortunately, I left feeling a bit disappointed. While the cocktails were great and definitely a highlight of the experience, the food fell short of expectations. The presentation of the dishes was impressive, but they lacked the flavor to match the visuals. For this area and the reputation of the restaurant, the food was just very average. The space has a lot of potential, but for now, it feels like it’s missing the mark. Hopefully, they can improve in the future, but as it stands, I wouldn’t go back anytime soon.

The restaurant feels kinda like being in a club - it’s dim and very loud with a live DJ. A lot of people were standing around the bar, and may have been for a corporate event. One of the staff walked us through the menu in full at the start of our meal, which was super helpful. We decided to go with the tasting menu. We originally thought we had to choose one of the dishes listed for each course, but they actually serve all the dishes listed for each course. In total there were maybe 10 dishes, including the dessert course. It was super filling and found it to be good value for the $100 price tag. Didn’t feel like they skimped on any of the portions. The one comment on the food is that it is definitely on the salty side. It is a consistent level of saltiness with most of the dishes, so it does seem intentional. Maybe this is a cultural thing with how the dishes are originally prepped, but it’s something to be aware of that the food will be on the saltier side.

Ordered the shrimp tacos (Tacos Olvidados $32) and 3 Stellas ($42) during a Saturday evening. The food order consisted of 5 tiny tacos - that are equivalent in size to 2.5-3 Taco Bell tacos. They were also deep fried or smothered in oil. They were also very salty. I highly recommend that you do not order these. Although I finished the dish, I was still hungry and was very unsatisfied with the taste. The beer was also super expensive. My only highlight of this place was the service. Even though it was a busy night, the service was excellent.

A Hit and Miss Culinary Experience Silent H is a captivating Mexican restaurant with beautiful modern decor and a stylish speakeasy hidden below. Intrigued by their tasting menu, I was eager to experience the chef’s curated journey 👀 The initial courses were truly impressive. The beet salad was a delightful surprise, showcasing a masterful balance of flavors and textures (never in my life did I think I would be boasting about beets. That's how good they were 😁). The guacamole, served with homemade corn totopos was stupendously balanced and their tuna tostadas were equally delicious, highlighting the restaurant’s commitment to fresh, quality ingredients. However, as the tasting experience progressed, a disappointing trend emerged: excessive saltiness. While the papas bravas provided a welcome respite, the subsequent dishes, including the dessert, were unfortunately overwhelmed by the saltiness. That was a disappointing way to end, specially because their dessert offering - el favorito de papá - reminded me so much of Pouding chômeur, something I love. The toffee was great but the salt was too much. The attentive staff, though friendly, occasionally interrupted our dining experience, even as we were mid-bite. More space between tables would have significantly improved the ambiance. The cocktail program at Silent H is undoubtedly a highlight. The Durango Desert, a tantalizing blend of tequila, mezcal, and a scorpion garnish, was a standout. While the tasting menu offers excellent value for money, the inconsistent quality of the later courses left a bit to be desired. I would consider returning to Silent H for their standout dishes like the beet salad and guacamole, but I would likely opt for à la carte ordering.

Had a lovely time here getting a few drinks and some appetizers. The drinks were delicious and well balanced. The atmosphere was relaxed and pleasant the entire time with bartenders rotating to make sure no one felt they needed to flag them down.

We recently celebrated a friend's birthday at Silent H restaurant in Toronto, and the experience was exceptional. The evening was specially curated for the birthday girl, with a set menu that perfectly captured the essence of Mexican cuisine. The three-course meal was a culinary delight, with each dish bursting with authentic flavors that left us thoroughly impressed. From the appetizers to the main course and dessert, the food was not only delicious but also beautifully presented. A standout feature of the evening was the flexibility offered by the restaurant—we were allowed to bring our own cakes, which added a personal touch to the celebration. After dinner, we seamlessly transitioned to the club below, where bottle service was already secured, enhancing the party atmosphere. The ambiance at Silent H was vibrant yet intimate, creating the perfect vibe for both dining and dancing. The combination of great food, a lively setting, and top-notch service made it an unforgettable night.
