This place is THE BEST!! The atmosphere is beautiful with lots of colours on the walls and pleasant lighting. I love the floor seated tables (they also have regular seating) and the owners are so friendly. The vege Jhol and chili momos are amazing (the meat ones are good too!) and the sauces are exquisite!! The sautéed Chinese greens are a perfect pairing with the momos. I highly recommend this jewel of a restaurant!

According to Wikipedia, Shangrila is a fictional place in Tibet’s Kunlun Mountains, described in the 1933 novel Lost Horizon. However, Shangrila does, in fact, exist on the south-western periphery of Toronto’s Parkdale neighbourhood. A visit to Shangrila (the restaurant), seemed to be a visit to Tibet itself. The restaurant’s décor is stunning, with the Tibetan language script lavished throughout and traditional ornamentation panelled on the walls and tables. There are both Western- and Tibetan-style dining areas. Many quotations of Tibetan teachings are on display, however one that I enjoyed most was a simple handwritten note pasted on the wall: “No Wifi, talk to each other.” (photo included). This is wisdom, indeed. I enjoyed the chicken momos with moderately spicy chili sauce. A potential for improvement would be that the sauce seemed to have heavy notes of ketchup which overshadowed the chili taste. For my first foray into Toronto’s Little Tibet, Shangrila was a welcome destination. བཀྲ་ཤིས་བདེ་ལེགས. Tashi delek!

Classical tibetan food and tasty vegetarian dishes. The tim mo is very good to come with the soup. The chill tofu is crispy outside but soft touch inside, the favor is comfort to tongue and not spicy. The noodle is also very good with wok chi. Their service is very good. Definitely recommend to this restaurant for vegetarian food!

Follow @bredgyeats for yummy food pictures! The Jhol momos are stuffed with a beefy buffalo filling, bathing in a pool of Jhol gravy packed with a nutty sesame and soybean flavour. The wrapper isn't too thick but provides a satisfying chewy texture to contrast the tender chunks of meat. It's so addicting.

Tried vegetable Jhol momos, they were really delicious. The jhol gravy was flavourful and chutney/ dip was hot & zesty, loved it! The Vegetarian momos had a paneer filling which was a nice surprise. My only issue was that they had added an egg in the vegetable hot & sour soup, which was not mentioned in the description. For this reason I could not consume it, but it looked nice. Overall it is a decent place to order from, if you are looking for authentic momos.

Spacious spot for Tibetan eats. Came here to try the Jhol steamed momos (beef) and really liked it. The gravy was especially quite flavorful. Really attentive and kind staff. Good for groups of any sizes.

I went there with my friends especially to have momo. I couldn’t wait for C-momo to take pictures . 😊😉Felt like taste from home and I found Ms. Tshering is amicable and companionable. Place is clean and hygiene. i would recommend everyone to go there and taste once for yourself.

Food is average if you compare it with Himalayan kitchen. Its not bad but definitely a room for improvisation. Service is good and you get the traditional Tibetan ambience.
