I loved my experience at Shako Mako! The owners are so kind and I loved the ambiance. The food was amazing, so fresh, and I loved trying some new things. Will definitely be back!

This place has it all - warm and attentive service, delicious food, and hefty portions! "Shako Mako" means "What's Up" in Iraqi. The restaurant is owned by a lovely family who I think all take part in the restaurant's operations. I came with a party of 4 on a heavy snow day and was amazed that the restaurant was nearly full. We were promptly seated and offered menus and water. We ordered a selection of favourites: fattoush (which came in a cool pita bowl), mixed appetizer plate (the m'tabbal is to die for), dolma, beef manakish, falafel, and the family plate where we got to try a bit of every entree (highly recommend this). There was not a single bite I did not love! You can tell that the food is made with love, from scratch. As 4 people, we clearly could not finish it all. We took it all home as leftovers and had a wonderful lunch the next day. Surprisingly, the food held up well after a night in the fridge! Highly recommend Shako Mako for your next Middle Eastern Cuisine adventure!

Shako Mako offers a delightful experience for fans of Middle Eastern cuisine. We ordered the family platter along with a few entrees, and everything was prepared beautifully. The flavors were authentic and well-balanced, showcasing a variety of traditional dishes. The presentation was appealing, and the portion sizes were generous, making it a great choice for sharing. Guest service was exceptional; the owner was actively participating in everything, greeting guests even during the busy rush. The overall atmosphere and personal touch made our visit enjoyable. Highly recommended!

We have ordered qouzi which came with a stew, i chosen white beans stew, mango juice and parda polao. All items tastes good, i really liked it, less spice which i prefer. Only little issue was with the mango juice which was really thick and hard to consume with the given straw specifically by the Kids. But it tastes good. Overall the experience is enjoyable.

Food here is really good; The chicken skewers and beef kabobs were cooked to perfection. The rice was nice and honestly food overall was 10/10. The only thing thats not making me give this 5 stars was the service itself. To me it looked like they were short staffed, took awhile for us to get our waters, food, and pretty much anything else. They also missed a few drinks for our table as well BUT they were definitely short staffed as having only 2 people scheduled for a Saturday night (7pm) seemed a bit off to me. Would come back and try again.

Great atmosphere that can be sensed the moment you walk into the restaurant. I like the vibe and the staff are very friendly & welcoming. Food tasted good but was not served hot hot. Food tasted good but I didn't like how oily it was. The highlight for me was the lentil soup which was absolutely delicious and portion served was great. I didn't like the shako mako soup, as the texture looked a bit like oatmeal. Taste wise, I like the mix of mushroom and chicken, but didn't think the spice/flavour was completely there. For the main, we got the quzi, which had lamb that literally fell off the bone. That was great, minus the oil and the Stew that came with it was also good (you have a choice of bean or eggplant, we chose eggplant), but I think the dish lacked a little more of spices to add more taste to it. Overall it was an OK experience, I'd say 3.5/5 but I'd definitely come back for the lentil soup. Kibbeh was also OK but would prefer if it is served with a side of sauce or something so that it is not eaten plain.

I was initially impressed by the nice and cozy atmosphere. The ambiance made for a pleasant dining experience, setting high expectations for the meal to come. However, I was quite disappointed with the food. When dining at an Iraqi restaurant, you generally expect certain staples such as lentil soup, freshly baked bread, and samoon, along with generous portions. Unfortunately, our experience was completely the opposite. The food quality was below average, lacking the flavors and authenticity one would anticipate from an Iraqi restaurant . The portions were also smaller than expected.
