Every time I walk past Sang-Ji fried bao I always see a long line, no matter if it’s during lunch time or dinner hour. After a successfully line up, I have to say the hype is worth it. The buns are made fresh upon order. Juicy and filled with a generous amount of filling. One of the most worth to eat items in downtown. The duck noodles feels like a warm hug too. Cash & debit only!

This is an excellent place for dining alone or a small groups. They have a small menu but everything is done s really well. I love the pan-fried soup-filled dumplings which are made fresh on-premise. You must have the bite sized wontons, and dry scallion noodles as well. Another delicious dish was the salty soy milk. You order off a QR code and the service is quick and efficient. The prices are also extremely reasonable.

Shanghai-style pan fried dumplings, different from the Tianjin style which you'll find at other spots. Everything we tried was fried to perfection, and the meat here isn't as oily/fatty as other spots. Would recommend!

Simple place with great fried soup dumplings. Sat at table and ordered off table QR code, and piping hot food came in less than 10 minutes. Duck noodles and broth was good, but the real star of the show is obviously the baos. The original pork baos have the most soup, but the shrimp had great flavour. Truffle baos were good but some may find the flavour different. Staff were very friendly and treated my kid well. Thank you!

Downtown location of Sang-Ji. Not much parking on the street but the Charles Hayden Garage is just across the street. The pan-fried pork buns are delicious! I got them for take out, so it did take 15-20 minutes to make. Service is good. They spoke English. The inside seating is pretty tight. There’s going to be a wait during meal times. I would come back! (Also posted on Yelp)

Ordered on UberEATS from a friend’s recommendation of eating here 3x in past week. The food arrived quickly and the original buns were still piping hot and crispy with lots of soup inside. Tender pork filling was very good with flavours I remember growing up. I wouldn’t order the schnitzel again as it was dry and didn’t travel as well, same with the noodles. The star of the show is fried bao… next time will order JUST the original bao. Comes with vinegar sauce which is perfect accompaniment to the richness of the pork. I like to take a small bite of the bao and pour some sauce in to mix with the soup in the filling. Flavours reminds me of Shanghainese childhood. Delicious and warning: VERY juicy! Updated July 19/24: went to visit in person with some friends for a quick lunch since we were nearby on Charles. Cute, very clean restaurant. Food came quickly after ordering from the QR code. We had 3 orders of the original baos and one noodle to share. Baos came out piping hot filled with hot soup. So good with the vinegar! Noodles fantastic! So simple, meatless yet full of flavour. Wish I had ordered the wonton soup to try but this was too much food for the three of us, we forced down the last baos, and left very full! Next time! Would love if they could add a fresh vegetable component to the menu? Maybe a crunchy smashed cucumber salad?

The goat of fried buns in the city. I've been a longtime fan of Sang-ji even way back when they were just a hole in the wall, mainly-takeout spot. They expanded locations and added items to their menu. And all that is good - the new curry beef baos and truffle baos are particularly good. But there's nothing quite like their original pork fried bao, with its crispy bottom, chewy skin, and generous meat, that hits the spot!

Tried this location Bloor and Younge… YUmmm! We each had 4 dumplings, original and curry. Fritter roll and duck soup. Luv the fresh and light flavor of the soup and the soup dumpling/bao is really tasty! Luv their not so hot, hot sauce 😊 Still so delish!!! New soup dumplings shrimp and truffle. Also the schnitzel over fried mochi 😊
